Worst mom of the day - Urgent Care trip

So, yes...I win worst mom of the day.  My doodle bug has been telling me for two days that her "nose is stuck" and I'm like...oh yeah whatever...you mean stuffed up, runny, congested, whatever.  And she told me this since Wednesday after picking up from school.  She won't let me touch it, or blow it or wipe it, which is pretty normal for her.  She told me this morning on the way to school that a hair bow was stuck up her nose.  She told me it was the blue hair bow...i'm like whatever...she's only 2 she doesn't know what she's saying.  I asked my mom what she thought...she said, well when you pick her up...try to look up into w/ a flashlight.  So we come home, eat dinner, and I finally get her to lay down and let me look up.  SURE ENOUGH it was completely blocked and it was a blue thing.  DH had gotten home...we were STILL waiting for the sofa to be delivered...which never came by the way, so thrilled.

We went to CHOA Immediate Care at North Point and they were SUPER!  We weren't even there an hour.  Luckily they were able to retrieve the foreign object and sure enough...it was a ffeaking HAIR BOW.  The dr was afraid he might not be able to get it...which would've meant we would've been sent to the ER for potentially putting her under to try to remove it.  LUCKILY he got it out.  She got a popsicle and a sticker and was singing songs on the way home...all the while I'm like...She's told me for TWO DAYS...I will listen to her from now on.

And still no sofa...if we can't reschedule for delivery on Monday...we're sending it back...gotta love it.  UGH

  • OMG, a freakin' hair bow!!!  You are not the worst mom at all, and this will be a funny story (maybe not yet, but someday!).  My nose hurts after reading this :)

  • You're still a great mom!  That totally sounds like something I would do.  The other day I put Sam in her booster seat and she started screaming.  I thought she was just throwing a tantrum, so I ignored her and tried to feed her.  DH was like, "something's wrong".  Sure enough I had pinched her poor little thigh with the tray.  She had a huge bruise there for a week.  I cried because I felt like such a failure as a mom.  Anyway - my point is that things like that happen to everyone, and the good thing is that everything is all right. Right?  Right!

As for the sofa - I never responded to your OP, but you have a very "interesting" set of in-laws!  Good luck with that!

  • wow. That's scary but I'm glad that doodle is ok.
  • Oh, sweetie don't beat yourself up. You are a wonderful mother and this was something that could've happened to anyone.

    ?

I'm so happy she's okay and they got the bow out. Give her extra kisses and hugs tonight.?

  • Aw, poor little girl but you are far from a bad mom. I'm glad that doodle is fine and that everything turned out o.k. Please remember..these things happen!

  • Oh geeezzz, Doodle what were you thinking putting a hair bow up your nose??  Awww, so glad she is ok!
  • I am sorry I had to laugh.....when my older sister was little they noticed a funny smell.....I don't know how they figured it out, but they took her into the doctor and she had shoved stuffing from a stuffed animal up her nose.  My parents told me it smelled HORRIBLE and that they just kept pulling and pulling it out.  Don't feel bad, it happens.

Sorry about your couch though.....geez RTG, don't they know you have the most high maintenance people coming to visit?

  • And FWIW..even grown people do this. My brother stuck a peanut up his nose in college and did in fact have to go to the ER to have it removed.
  • Wow - what a crazy story! You need to start writing down the Adventures of Danielle - I think you could make a fortune!!!

Seriously, I'm glad she is ok and you are too.
