"sea bands"

I know this was talked about on the board awhile ago, I just can't find it! Plus I didn't pay much attention to it before cause I wasn't feeling like I do now... nausea!! egh. But does anyone know if those "sea bands" actually work- because they're for motion sickness right? And my nausea seems to get worse when I'm up and about, moving.... so I was wondering if I should try it. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Re: "sea bands"

  • I used them during my first pregnancy and they did help some. They didn't get rid of the nausea, but they helped make it more tolerable.

  • They have never helped in any of my pregnancies.  I would say not worth the money.

  • Without the sea-bands I wouldn't have been able to function yesterday. My nausea kicked in last weekend and DH bought the bands for me on Thursday. It didn't get rid of the nausea but it did make it tolerable enough to function. GL!

  • My boss at my previous job used them and loved them. She said that they didn't get rid of the nausea, but made the days (and nights) much more tolerable. She said that they especially helped in conjunction with preggy pops, ginger ale, and/ or peppermint tea.

I'm only 5 weeks, so mine hasn't been too bad yet, however if I start feeling how I did with my first pregnancy I will be running (or sending hubs hehe) to get them.

     Best of luck!!

  • Mine were only $10 at CVS, so it's pretty cheap not to try!  They don't make the nausea completely go away all the time but it's much less.
  • I have heard they make the nausea more tolerable.  I have a pair on stand-by.
  • I used them for a bit with DD after I got a bad flu because I wasnt sure if it was the flu or baby..They seemed to work for me even my 14 weeks photo I have em on.. I heard they provide a placebo effect but acupressure should work if done right
  • Technically, Sea Bands have been proven to work only as a placebo effect. But that sill is something and some women swear by them.
