Baking mommies (warning stupid question)

ok so I am making a chocolate mousse box cake and I poured them into two cake pans.  I know to stack them you have to cut the top to make it into a flat surface but I was just wondering if anyone cakes every just come out perfect with no cutting needed  (Stupid question I know)

Re: Baking mommies (warning stupid question)

  • not really, the top rises a bit during baking so it will be "Roundish"...which does not work for stacking

  • Mine's never do.  They have those wire cutters that you use to slice the uneven top off perfectly.

  • what you can do when the cake comes out of the oven is to either:

squish the top flat (gently!) with your hand/cake board, or

    flip it over to cool.

Then you dont have to cut off any cake and worry about cutting it unevenly.

    This

  • A wire cutter works just as good as a long bread knife.

When you dont cut, and flip the cake, it ends up looking like the leaning tower of piza and round on top.
