Parenting after a Loss

Working moms & daycare: what bottles do you send?

Our daycare said to bump him up to 6 oz of BM so I'm in search of a bigger bottle. We currently use Playtex Ventaires but couldn't find the bigger ones at Wal-mart. I can always buy them elsewhere, but I'm willing to try another brand. Except Dr. Browns, which I found to be too time-consuming and complicated (and expensive!) to put together.

What are you all using?

  • No suggestions here cause we use the same ones you do.

  • Playtex DropIns.  However, the nipple shape is slightly different than the shape of the VentAires (we used to use those).

Have you looked on www.diapers.com for them?  They have free 2 day shipping on any order over $49, or if you add somethign in your cart from www.soap.com, it ships free for over $25.  I use them all the time (at least once per week), and they are awesome.

I bought one of the Parent's Choice version of the drop ins today to see what LO thinks of them. Does your daycare have any issues using them?

If they do, they haven't told me!  I would think it would be easier, its one less part to wash.

  • Mine's not in daycare but he stays with my mom and dad when both DH and I are at work. I got them the 9 oz Evenflo Comfi bottles and a friend of mine swears by the plain old cheap Gerber bottles.

  • I should probably add that LO has reflux, which is why we originally went with the ventaires.

That friend of mine that uses the cheap Gerber bottles, her son also has reflux and also has allergies and eats soy formula. He's doing great with those bottles. She started out with the drop INS and switched to Gerber.

  • Sally, I have a bunch of the larger Tommee Tippee bottles.  Washed, but never used with Addison!  I unboxed them and got them all ready before she was even born, but found that with the smaller bottles, it didn't work for her.  I couldn't return the bottles because I'd thrown away all the packaging.  So, if you decide you want to try them, let me know, and I'll send you one.

  • we use the Avent brand....the basic ones (look more white then yellow).  There are four parts to them (well, 5 if you include the cap).  bottle, ring, nipple, nipple holder, cap.  We ended up getting a total of 12 bottles and we wash them in the dishwasher at night now.
