I was induced at 39 weeks with ds due to insulin dependent GD.
Was 3cm dialated when I went in at 7 am. Got water broken at 9 am. Got hooked up to iv and started walking walking walking all day long. Got to 4 cm by 5 pm. No contractions. Oh all of this I was hooked up to pitocin.
Finally started having contractiosn around 930 -10 pm so got a shot of morphine and sat in the shower for about 1.5 hours. Baby was looking great through all of this.
Got out of the shower around 1130.. checked was still 4 cm. The oncall dr started talking C/s but I told my nurse that I had only had contraction for about 2 hours at that point... and I wanted an epi. My contractions had just started at that point to come fast and hard. with 15 seconds between each. OUCH. Got my epi around 1230 and it was amazing. By 130 I wasx 7cm and by 210 I was 10 and ready to push. So thankful that my nurse wasd in my corner and told the dr's I needed more time before they cut me open! I pushed for 1.5 hours probably becuase I was exhuasted but he came out at 356 am and was 7lbs.
Overall my dr considers my labor only 6 hours long. It was fairly good nad uneventful but I would not be able to contemplate being induced with out and epi. Plus I would get one earlier this time because it relaxes you which helps the contracations do their job.
Mine was fine. 10 hours start to finish. I had back labor though, so I ended up with an epi even though I hadn't really wanted to get one. Pitocin sucks, but its manageable.
I was induced with both of my sons, and they could not have gone better! They were really identical experiences, actually (they even weighed exactly the same at birth). Only difference was I went in the night before with my first (for cervadil), and didn't have to with my second since they said it wasn't necessary for non first-timers. They gave me an enema in the morning after my shower...a must for me, gave me that psychological "freedom" to push with all that I had! Then pitocin, break water, epi all by 9am. I slept on and off till about 2pm and both boys were born around 3pm. Pushed for an hour with my first, 6 minutes with my 2nd. I used the midwife in the practice both times, but this time will have to use an OB since she moved away Love my doctor, hoping everything goes as smoothly!
I was induced right at 40 wks. I was 2 going in on a Tuesday night (after being a 0 that Friday) but they still inserted Cervadil at 6pm, starting having painful contractions around 3 am, took out Cervadil and then I got my epi at 9 am and was at a 4. After that it was a breeze. I started pushing at 2:45pm and he was born at 3:08 pm. The best possible birth experience I could have imagined.
I was induced at 39 weeks with both kids. The first lasted just under 9 hours, I was dilated to 2cm when I went in. My second was 4 hours and 16 minutes from the breaking of my water to the delivery of the placenta. I started out at 4cm. had a lot of back labor but my nurse didn't check my cervix until almost 4 hours in when my epi wasn't helping with the severe pressure. At that point she told me my baby had a lot of hair as she called the doctor... I wish I would have walked a little with my first and gotten my epi earlier to help me relax. Other than that, both were good experiences

I was induced with DS on his due date for "favorable cervix". I was dialated to 4cm, full effaced, and baby was at station 0. Anyway, I went in at noon, got started on pitocin around 1pm, they broke my water at 4pm, got the epi at 5pm and was ready to push at 8pm. DS was born at 8:20pm.
I might be induced again this time since my Dr will be OOT the week I'm due and b/c I had a successful induction with DS. I'd prefer to go into labor on my own though, but it's nice to know that induction could be an option.

I went in at 4.5 cm from my OB's office. We checked in at 4 p.m., and they monitored me for an hour or so, then called the doc to tell him how my contractions looked. They were small and sporadic.
They hooked up the Pitocin at about 6. It took the pharmacy a while to get the insulin drips ready for me and they couldn't start it till then. He came in about 7 and broke my water. I got my epidural about 8 or so.
At 11:20 I had a pain on my right hip like I was laying on it too long, and they checked me and I was fully dilated, and ready. Doc showed up and we started to push at 11:40. She was born in three pushes at 11:45 p.m.
This was my second induction. I was 38w1day. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I was indcued with DD becase my waterbroke and labor did not start on its own.
I was 0% dialated and effaced when they began my inducation with a pill to soften my cervix. About 5 hours later they started Pitocin. 7 hours later I started pushing. 2.5 hours later, DD was born. All in all a successful induction.
My only negative is that pitocin sucks. At one point I had ZERO break btwn contractions...ZERO. As soon as the contraction would end the next would begin. Thats when I asked for the epi. After the epi I dialated rather quickly which was nice. I couldn't have done it free of pain meds.
Not sure if i was dilated, effaced, or how far along i was at the time. Went in at 6am. They eventually broke my water. The nurse pointed out to me on the screen my contractions b/c i didn't know i was having them. When they got bad enough had an epi. (to which i got fussed at for waiting "so long" to get) Let them know i felt like i had to poop since that was the only reference i was given as to what childbirth felt like. A nurse checked..and promptly said "OMG i see the head!" And dashed out the room for my dr. And my daughter was born at 9:58am that same day. She was quick! And she also tore me b/c my dr didn't realize she was gonna be that big so he hadn't given me an episiotomy.
Mine was horrible. We now know that I seem to ovulate 2 wks after a normal woman would in a normal cycle. We had 2 dating u/s with this baby. I was induced at 41w3d for being overdue.
Mon night - insert Cervadil
3am - woken up to be told my platelets were too low and if I thought I might want an epi I had to get it now because the anesthesiologist wouldn't do it if they dropped much more.
Tuesday
6am - epi catheter placed, Cervadil removed
breakfast, pit started.
nothing for the entire day.
6pm - pit off, dinner, Cervadil back in.
Wed
8am - Cervadil out, breakfast, pit on
2pm - start feeling contractions
3pm - on call dr (my dr was only on call Tues) says I'm not making progress quickly enough, time for c-section. DH and I fought it and was allowed to labor more.
4pm - pit contractions so strong, ask for epi
6-7ish - they break my water
7-9ish - epi starts wearing out, ask for refill
12am - start having me push, DD is stuck. epi refill again, made me delirious. Have me practice push for 3 hrs while I passed out in between contractions
Thurs
3am - epi gone completely, can't have any more.
3am - 6am - pushing. DD was stuck. At this point I was asking for a c-section but they refused; I think because of how far down she was. Born at 6:05am.
Terrible experience. I was stuck in bed from Mon night - Thurs morning because of having to get the epi placed. I was so weak after DD was born, I could barely walk, get myself on and off the toilet, etc. I wish I would have just had a c-section. I know it's major abdominal surgery but 6 hrs of pushing seems a little much. I told my dr I will no be induced this time, I will not allow pit in my system. In the end, DD was probably right on time, not 2 wks late. Had we had an early dating u/s in the beginning we might have caught it and avoided this whole situation. I'm hoping since dating is more accurate for this baby that I can avoid it.
Re: ? for moms who have been {successfully} induced before
My induction was perfect. I was 2, maybe 3 cm dilated and 60-70% effaced going in. I was 40w3d. Here's the time line
7:30-check in
8:00- All hooked up to monitors
8:25-OB broke my water, and I started contracting immediately
8:55- Contractions 2-4min apart, and they gave me a small dose of pitocin
10am- Contractions 2 min apart, I got the epi
10:55am-Contractions started to spread to 4 min apart, so they gave me a little bit more pitocin
12:55pm- 6cm
1:32pm- 10cm and started to push!
2:03pm-DS was born!
