XP with the cloth diapering board.
Sorry, I am sure this is probably asked frequently, but I couldn't find anything in the first few pages and the search didn't work.
Right now we are using BG 3.0 with a microfiber insert and two Hemp baby inserts. In the morning her inserts are not completely soaked, however, she has frequently soaked through. It almost seems as if she is soaking through the side of her diaper not out the leg hole of her diaper.
Any suggestions on what could be happening, how I can fix it or a better diaper for night time use?
Re: XP night time diapering
How are you layering your inserts? (hemp on top? MF on top?)
Which inserts aren't soaked?
Any chance the MF isn't working at it's best? I find natural fibers to be the most forgiving when it comes to wash routine.
We use natural fibers at night (my current favs are an Elemental w/ added AFFF hemp insert -or- a Goodmama w/ AFFF under wool)

I have had similar issues w/ my BG pockets (which are what we use for nighttime also). I have messed around with a variety of insert combinations, but it seems like he wakes up wet in the morning at least half the time no matter what I do. Sometimes he's leaking out the leg holes, sometimes out the top and almost always the inserts are soaked. I guess I have a super soaker and need to add more absorbency, but then I get huge gaps around the leg holes. I'm seriously considering moving to fitteds at night, but I'm nervous how he will deal with his bum being wet after having suede cloth keeping him dry for so many months...
Ugh. It's such a dilemma.
Some like the hemp on bottom, I prefer it on top. You might give that a try. Also - I'm not sure what hemp you're using - but you might try it alone. You could also put the wool over her night diaper until you get it sorted out (unless you think the wool is actually the problem - not the wetness). I've even used hemp w/ a prefold overnight.
If you want to use prefolds, you could always make or buy sleeves for them (made from suedecloth). Like these here: https://www.cottonbabies.com/product_info.php?products_id=736
I have made them before. I just cut a rectangle and sewed one seam. The material isn't expensive and it doesn't fray.
