"EASY" method and ebf'ing ?

We've been loosely (sp?) following the eat/activity/sleep method with LO. It works pretty well during the day but in the evening what do you do? I normally nurse LO to sleep so when he starts showing signs of being tired should I just nurse to sleep? Kind of a forced clusterfeed? He changes every week so I'm not dead set on any one method yet but just curious how others make it work.

Re: "EASY" method and ebf'ing ?

  • We do EASY and I EBF. I try to put DD down for naps and bedtime when awake, and she puts herself to sleep with the binky. This works most times, but if she's over-tired or just having a tough time, I'll nurse her to the point where she's calm, and then I'll give her the binky and back into bed. At this point, she'll put herself to sleep. These events are few and far between, but when they do occur, I don't count them as a feeding (she's only nursing for a couple of minutes), so in my mind, we're still adhering to EASY.

This.  Jr refuses pacis too.  At what age should we break them from nursing to sleep?

  • So glad to hear I'm not the only one who nurses to sleep!!

I have no advice to offer, though :( Sorry!

I really don't plan to try honestly. If that's what she needs for the next year to fall asleep I am OK with that.....however I think NCSS addresses sleeping at the boob....GL!
  • We do EASY as well. LO has an activity time after all naps, but for our bedtime routine we do bath, quiet time, then feeding....He is usually drowsy and goes right to sleep, no paci. I feed him in the dark with the white noise machine on and already in his swaddle sack without being swaddled yet. After I feed, I swaddle then put right to sleep. HTH!!

  • I do EASY.  He eats off one side when he wakes in the morning and every time he wakes up from his nap (I like that this helps to not create an association between food and sleep).  He goes to sleep 2 hours after waking from his last nap.  I nurse him on both sides before bed.  Occasionally he falls asleep while feeding, but I usually put him down drowsy or awake.  And yes, I do consider this to be a forced cluster feed.  It works well for us.
