looking for swim classes

I live in the beaverton/SW portland area and was looking for some sort of prenatal exercise class.  I know providence has a swim class but the location is further then i'd like to drive.  does anyone know of a good place to get some exercise with other pregnant ladies in beaverton?

Re: looking for swim classes

  • I took regular water aerobics classes when I was pg. You're in with mainly older women, but you get the same exercise. Water aerobics is extremely adaptable, so it was easy for the instructors to suggest alternatives for the few things that I couldn't do (basically any major ab work). Going with a general class opens up a lot more options. Check your local pools, gyms, and parks/rec.

I LOVED my water aerobics classes! It feels so good to exercise without the belly weight - it's like not being pregnant at all - and it really helped my hips/pelvis settle. I always felt so much more comfortable after class.

  • SW Community Center (by Gabriel Park) has a prenatal pool class on Tuesdays.  I'd definitely go to it, but I'm already committed to yoga that night.

I'm going to the Providence pool class for the first time tonight...hope it's good.

  • The Aloha Swim Center has a prenatal water aerobics class. I took it when I was pregnant and absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone!! It was fantastic. And pretty cheap too, you could buy a 20 class pass for something like $60. Also across the street from there is a prenatal yoga class.
