Name opinions

I know I'm really early, but I'm can't stop thinking about names.  We had Claire picked out from day one, and we always called her that--even before we knew she was a girl.  So, I'm trying to get the ball rolling.

Anyway, here are my top choices, but tell me what you think--esp. if you know our last name.

Girl--Caitlin Marie, with the nn Cate or Cait

Boy--Colin Lee (we are sticking with our family middle names)

Are these too matchy matchy with my last name?

    Once again.....we picked the same boy name!!! I just told matt yesterday that I like the name Colin. Too funny. I wont be offended if you use Clark :) I like Kaitlyn with a K but I get why you would spell it with a C. Either way I like both names you have picked out!

    I don't think so!  I like them all.  BIL is Colin, or we would have considered it for E.

    I'm not a huge fan of the name Colin, but I think I'm in the minority in saying that.  I think I feel that way because of personal associations I have with the name. I'm also not a huge fan of this name with your last name.

    I'm curious if you're intentionally using all C names or do you happen to just like names that start with C :-) I gravitate towards names that start or end with A, so I know how that is.

    I went to college with a girl named Caitlin Marie (spelled exactly that way), so I have biased mixed opinions on the name. 

    I like Colin, but I do think both names are a mouthful with your last name, especially with the -lin endings.

    I don't know your last name but I like the way Claire and Colin and Claire and Caitlin/Cate sound together.

    I think both these names are cute but like Laura, I do think it's somewhat of a mouthful with your last name.... then again so is my maiden name with my first name. (The K sound is what does it). That said though, there aren't many times in one's life where you say both names together and it's not like it's THAT bad together.

    Funny thing is, our next girl name is a R name... I didn't realize the R aspect until a while after we had talked about it, lol.

    I like Colin, but I do think it's maybe a bit too matchy-matchy with your last name.  If it didn't have both the C and the -lin in there, I don't think it would be as noticeable.  But at least it doesn't have any sexual connotation like Colin would with my last name!  LOL!  Yeah....I kinda hate trying to name kids. 

    Oh and all 3 of my top names have a hard K sound, one is spelled with a K and the others with C, but it's the same sound.

    Her middle name is also Marie.  It's also both me and my sister's MN, and my mom's, so I don't see a big deal with using the same MN for sisters.  But, I could change my mind. Smile

    I'm leaning towards a no for Colin because that does seem too matchy.  But I think we could pull of Caitlin.  Jason's boy choice is Charles. Huh?  He's pretty insistent, lol.  I guess I do like the nickname Charlie...

    Caitlin is alright - I really like Cate (it's one of my tops spelled with a K).  It sounds OK with your last name - not great, but not as bad as Colin.
