baby kicks slow down with a cold?

This is my first cold during my pregnancy, I am 33 wks. Perhaps I am overreacting but the baby hasn't really kicked today. Is it possible that he is feeling sluggish like me? Is there something wrong?

Re: baby kicks slow down with a cold?

  • My baby really slowed down his kicking 2 weeks ago when I had a terrible GI bug.  I needed 3 liters of IV fluids and potassium replacement (I went in for not feeling the baby move and they did blood work).  Are you dehydrated at all?  Baby perked up within the first liter of fluid.  I would get some Gatorade and make sure you are eating and drinking but let your doctor know too!  They said baby needed some sugar and fluids and he was fine.  Hope you feel better soon!

  • I have a really bad cold too and noticed the same thing. He tends to kick more when I lay down anyway. I asked the doctor and she said it was fine. At my appt. today they said he was moving a lot when they were trying to get the HB so she wasn't worried. I just didn't really feel it.

  • I was sick for weeks 30 and 31 and in bed all of week 31 and he actually moved more. Now that I'm better though and more active (week 32) he's been moving less. Keep in mind the farther along you get the less space they have to move around so a little less movement can be normal (per my OB). I wouldn't worry about it but DO keep EXTRA hydrated!!!

  • We just talked to my midwife today because I have the flu. She said that the baby will probably slow down but to make sure that I'm still feeling movement everyday.
