Nice place to stay on the coast???

Hi! I'm popping over to your board from Seattle. We live in the Seattle area and for the past couple months my DH has been working in Portland Mon-Fri! We haven't had a weekend alone since DD was born and now that she is finally starting to STTN we're going to leave her with her grandparents and have a relaxing, romantic weekend! I want to drive down to Portland to meet DH on a Friday and stay at our apartment there and then head out to the coast on Saturday and stay the night somewhere for a night! Do you have any recommendations? I would not like to spend more than $150 on the hotel if that helps, but want something nice. I am also into photography and would love to check out some scenic areas or parks, etc along the way! Thanks!

  • Cannon Beach is a little over an hour drive from Portland - The Surf Sand Resort is AMAZING.  Probably more than $150 right now though for oceanfront...you might be able to get a non-view room for under $150...?  It's one of my favorite hotels ever, it's fabulous in every way.  And there big tub rooms are big enough for 2 people.

Lincoln City is about 3 hours south of Portland - The Coho Inn is also AMAZING.  Oceanfront room with a huge jetted tub, right on the ocean, is about $150 a night.  We just stayed in a "Sunset Suite" for 2 nights and it was wonderful.

Both of these hotels are really great quality, Aveda shampoos, plush bathrobes, etc.

    Have fun!

  • I like the Elizabeth St Inn in Newport. It's about 3ish hours from Portland. The view is really pretty and the lighthouse is just down the street and the aquarium and a few other fun places. They have tub rooms but they cost a bit more. But all the rooms face the ocean and have balconies, fireplaces, robes and continental breakfast. (eggs, cereal, bacon, etc)

  • Schooner's Cove at Cannon Beach is nice.  It was recommended to my husband by a friend & we've stayed there several times & really like it, it's always been quiet & relaxing.
