So my co-irker was just telling me that there is a kid in her sons class that has a serious phobia of Jello! While I dont think its funny that the kids tease him about it, I did google to see if "The Fear of Jello" had a name because let's face it...its kind of comical. So do you have any phobias? Do you know the correct name for your phobia? If you had to name your phobia what would it be?

My phobia's are bridges & clowns! I am pretty sure Miss Karma hates me and I will indeed die by being pushed off a bridge BY a clown!

Gephyrophobia - The Fear of Bridges

Coulrophobia - The Fear of Clowns

and while there is no specific name for the fear of Jello: Cibophobia is the fear of food and according to the interwebz that is where jello would fall.

Ornithophobia-fear of birds

I have lots of irrational fears (clowns, insects that fly, ceiling fans falling down on me-the list goes on) but my biggest one has got to be birds. They scare the crap out of me.

Arachnophobia- fear of spiders. They make my skin crawl.

Chilopodophobia- fear of centipedes. Those things are creepy too. Especially the hairy ones.

Ornithophobia-

This is my fear. The fear of birds.

I don't like any bird. I will do anything to avoid getting near them. My sister has a couple and she always takes them into her room if we go go stay with her.

I avoid them at the park, in parking lots, everywhere.

I am probably the only weirdo that has this phobia, but, I have a thing about having my feet covered with a blanket. In the middleof the night if I notice my feet are under the covers I go nuts trying to kick the blankets off off of them. I feel like I'm suffocating! I'm a total wacko! There is no name for my fear but there seems to be a more common fear/phobia of NOT having your feet covered.

I hate these too. Any time a bug flies by my head I freak out. It's pretty entertaining for whoever is around me at the time.

Clowns. Creepy, creepy clowns. The worst part is a lady I work with used to dress up as a clown a long time ago and she's showed me pictures. It makes me shudder to even think about it. Especially since she still acts like a clown sometimes, but thankfully doesn't dress as one.

But my parrot is such a sweetie! :-)

I worked with someone who was scared of birds and our office was right next to a wild bird store. The owners would put feeders out everyday and she would run from the parking lot into our office.

Mine is Gerphyrophobia: fear of crossing bridges. I'm always scared we're going to get in an accident and get thrown off the bridge somehow. I'm also extremely claustrophobic (which includes driving through tunnels).

Megalophobia - fear of large objects. If I am near the airport or the port it freaks me out to look at the planes and ships...it makes my heart race, the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I get shivers all over. I don't like to see hot air balloons or blimps up close either.

I have this strange fear of escalators since I saw this stupid horror movie when I was a kid where the girls hair gets stuck in the escalator and rips her scalp off. The term on google for it is escalaphobia but I'm sure thats just a made up word! Big Smile

I don't think there's a specific name for it but I'm afraid of semi trucks. I get horrible anxiety driving past them. They scare me so much and now even more that I have a baby in the back seat.

Trypophobia - the fear of holes. Which isn't really accurate.. I'm not really SCARED of holes. I'm more grossed out by things.. fitting into holes (that'swhatshesaid). But seriously: if you google trypophobia the images that come up make me gag an feel nauseous.

Kinemortophobia. Yeah, thats right....the fear of zombies. I know they aren't real. I know they can't get me...but I'm still deathly afraid of them and spend a large amount of my time thinking about what I would do if a zombie apocalypse happened.

Apiphobia - fear of bees

I'm 27 and i will RUN AWAY if a bee is near me! I haven't been stung since I was a freshman in high school (knock on wood!) but I'm still terrified.

in my defense, though, I developed life-threatening food allergies at 24, so i'm scared i'll have an anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting now

I'm also scared of bananas. I hate the way they smell, taste, feel, everything...my brother used to chase me around with a banana when i was younger - not cool! poor DD probably won't ever taste one unless DH gives it to her!

Mine doesnt have a name. I have a fear of porta potties. They freak me out and I can not use them. If we are someplace that only has porta potties I will not drink anything. I'd rather go behind a tree or on the side of the road.

fear of falling - bathophobia, I believe.

and the strange one - fear of toilets overflowing. I can't go unless there's a plunger in sight. just the thought makes me want to run far, far from the bathroom.
