Hi, ladies! DH and I happily found out over the Christmas holidays that I'm pregnant! Could anyone recommend a great OB in the Tallahassee area? Thanks in advance
I use Dr. McKinnie at North Florida Women's care. I love all of the drs there. This is my 4th baby and they have delivered all of them. They are located on the top level of TMH.
I also go to North Florida Women's Care. One thing I like about their practice, is that they rotate that doctors who see you. You have one primary doctor, but throughout your pregnancy, you get to see all of them. That way, you will be familiar with the doctor who delivers your baby (since there is no guarantee your doctor will be on call when you go into labor). I have had really good experiences with them so far. This is my first pregnancy so I asked everyone I knew about doctors. So far, everyone has been reccommending North Florida Women's Care. Good luck!
I also use North Florida Womens's Care and the doctors there are great. I use Dr. McAlphin. The nurses and staff are wonderful too. Our first child was not born here but when I asked around, they were the most recommended, I also used the GYN side too before becoming pregnant again.. I love Dr. O'Bryan. I am pregnant with twins and they have kept me at ease and really care about you.
That is great to hear about NFWC. I had two friends that both used them for their babies in February 2010. They both used Dr. Dixon there so that is who I am signed up for (we meet Friday).
Its great to hear positive things about the others in the practice as well.
My SIL's all used a midwife here locally that they LOVED. I can try to find out her name. They said the only thing is that she takes medicare so some of the other patients are a bit "iffy" if you know what I mean.

Sorry, another thing that I was very pleased with about NFWC.
I called on Monday after getting our BFP and they were able to get me in for the "orientation" that Wednesday. When I went in and was talking to the LPN I mentioned strong pains I was having and told them I was worried it was ectopic. They took my concern seriously and immediately got me in for an u/s to make sure everything looked good.

I know most ladies seem to go to NFWC, but I didn't like the idea of a huge practice where I would have to see a ton of different doctors. I went to Azlaea Women's Healthcare which has 2 ob/gyns and 3 midwives. I wanted to go with a smaller practice, specificaly one with midwives since I plan on doing a med-free birth and it seems that practices with midwives tend to focus on more med-free births and ones with less interventions. My medical insurance recently changed so I switched over to gynecology & obstetrics associates, which is another ob/gyn/midwife practice.

I'm late to the game too, but I also use NFWC and love them. My doctor is Dr. Dixon and you will love him. He's fabulous. I ended up have pre-eclampsia really bad and had to have an emergency c-section 2 months early. Every doctor I saw during my hospital visit from NFWC was wonderful. And I am so glad I had Dr. Dixon to help me get through those scary times!!

North Florida Women's Care! Any doctor. They are wonderful. This is the third office I've been to in Tallahassee and the only one I will ever go to. They genuinly love their patients and are wonderful and helpful. They got me in within a week of finding out we were pregnant and then my doctor had a cancellation so they scheduled me to stay and meet with Dr. Price and have my first ultrasound. She is INCREDIBLE! I can't say enough positive about my doctor or that office.
