Ugh, so I got dressed this morning, looked in the mirror, and BAM! My baby/bloat bump is crazy huge today. I showed Jason, and even he was wide eyed over it. Yikes! I know my kids are already kind of talking about my fluffiness lately, so I'm just wondering when/if I should tell them. My principal and team teachers already know, so it's just the kids I'm worried about. I was going to wait until the end of 1st trimester, but I don't know if I can wait two more weeks if this bump keeps up!
Okay, so here's a picture I took in the bathroom at school this morning. This is why the kids are already whispering about me:
Re: When should I tell my students? edit: PIP
Although my bump looks huge to me, I really don't think it's obvious to other people. I mean if I told them they might say "oh, yeah I see!". I remember thinking all my coworkers knew I was pregnant cause I got all bumpy, but nobody could tell.
I would wait if you wanted to wait. Even if they DO suspect it, let them wonder.
I agree with Kathy.
When pg with DD, I worked with an after-school program, and I announced to the kids at 18 weeks. A few of the girls asked me the week before, and I deflected, but no one had said anything prior to that.
One factor that plays into how obvious the early bump is is in the clothes you wear. Some shirts show it off more, and look more maternity than others, kwim?
You could still hide that if you wanted. Open sweater/jackets help.
I was uneasy about telling my clients when I was pregnant, so I decided I would just wait until they asked, or tell them one month prior to maternity leave. I was 30+ weeks when I left and clients had just started asking, others had no clue. I wore my jacket a lot and I think that made it a little less visible.
I would wait to tell them. Even if you can't hide it, you don't have to come out and tell them until you're comfortable.
