Oh. Question about changing pads.

Do I need to buy a thicker, contoured one?  We have the one that came with the changing table, and it's really thin..but it has the belt and everything.  Also, if I just keep that one..do they even sell covers for them?  Do I need a cover?

Re: Oh. Question about changing pads.

  • With our DD, we just used the flat one that came with the change table. It worked fine.

We did pick up a cover for it, but often we just used a receiving blanket and laid it on the pad.

  • Personally, I would plan on using the changing pad that came with the changing table.  You can always buy a thicker one later if you decide you don't need it.  I don't know if they make covers for the thin ones, but you'd definitely want to put something down under LO during diaper changes that could be washed or disposed of.

  • I had intended to buy a nicer, contoured pad, but the one that came with our table seems like it will work just fine. I bought a Summer Infant cover thinking it was for the contoured ones, but it's not--it fits the thin ones perfectly. This is the one we have:

It might fit the contoured ones, as well, but it fit the thin one just fine!

  • I'm using the thin one. She's not going to be on there very long, so I don't see the point in spending money on a thicker one. I have found covers for the thin one at Target and Babies R Us. They just don't have as much selection for the thinner ones.
