LO was diagnosed with mild baby excema (sp?) and we were told to moisturize with aveeno/any emolient. We've been using a combo of aveeno and vaseline on his little arms, torso and legs.
We've been avoiding the diaper area, but have probably gotten some cream on his bum/upper thighs.
Since we've been moisturizing, I've noticed more diaper leaks. Could the creams be causing the CDs to repel? If so, should I strip them? What would be the best way to strip my entire stash? And is there a CD safe moisturizer out there? I'm in rural Canada, so it would have to be something really popular/common, or something I could order online.
TIA!
Re: CDing mama's ? re: lotions
If the cream transferred onto the diapers, it is possible build-up is contributing to a leak, I think you could start by stripping. I use the method on the BG website for stripping which includes blue Dawn soap.
Wash once in hot water with one teaspoon (for high efficiency machines) to one tablespoon (for regular washing machines) with original liquid Dawn (blue formula) and up to 1/2 cup bleach in the wash cycle. Do two additional hot water washes with no detergent to completely rinse the diapers clean. If you still see suds, keep rinsing until the diapers are rinsed clean.I love Earth Mama Angel Baby> There is a bum balm that is very emollient and cloth diaper safe. It is more of a salve and has natural organic oils as base. You could possibly use it on the bum, tummy, and upper thigh area (places that will most like contact the diaper) and then the regular lotion on the arms, upper torso, and lower legs. GL! Hope that helps. Also, if your little one is growing quickly, you should rule out that diaper sizing or using a larger insert is not your first method to reduce leaks.
