Storing Pump Parts in the Fridge?

I think someone posted about storing pump parts in the fridge between pump sessions (was it you, starb4long?).. but I forget what what said specifically. Does anyone remember or what do you do with your parts?

(AW myself.. I tried out my PISA for the first time today and pumped 2 oz in a couple minutes!!)

Re: Storing Pump Parts in the Fridge?

  • I just put the flange in a ziploc and put it in the fridge. At the end of the day the flange goes in the sink and the ziploc in the trash.

  • I store them in the fridge and wash them once a day with the rest of the bottles. After each pump session, I rinse some water through them and throw them in the fridge.

  • I tried storing my pump parts in the fridge in between pumping, but found that the fatty parts of the milk would solidify when they got cold and clog the membrane part. I found that rinsing them (not a full wash) before putting in there (I keep mine in a gladware container) stops that from happening.

And cold flanges feel sooooo good on sore bewbies. Cool

  • Thanks ladies! I figured it was pretty simple (i.e. just put parts in fridge) but wanted to make sure I wasn't leaving out a step that I wouldn't think of.

I have the SoftFit shields that shouldn't be sterilized in the steam bags Sad. I will use them for the other parts though.

  • Wow, so you don't have to sterilize after each pump session?  I thought I was supposed to.  I was sterilizing after every time I pumped.  This could be a huge time saver!
