Will you and DH have seperate diaper bags?

My husband seems to think we each need our own. I understand he wants me to be able to have a cute pink one lol and he can have his manly one, but is it really necessary? I guess I just feel like one is enough.

Do you plan to have your own diaper bag?

Re: Will you and DH have seperate diaper bags?

  • DH and I will have separate bags. Mine is super cute and his is a camo "manly" one. We figure we'll keep one packed with extra stuff and leave it at the house or in a vehicle. That way if something comes up or if we switch cars, we don't have to worry about taking the time to pack and figure out where the diaper bag is and how to get it from the other person. I definitely don't think we need two, but DH wanted his own, and if it gets him excited, I'm all for it.

  • We're the same as the PP. DH mentioned one day that he would really like to have his own and he was so excited about it, I didn't see any harm in him having his own. We registered for it and while I don't think most people would have purchased it, his mom did because she knew how excited he was about it. Sometimes he'll go get it and wear it around the house. It's so cute and I think it helps him feel more involved in everything.

  • Yes. I have a coach diaper bag that looks like a purse; needless to say, DH doesn't want to carry it. He is using a nice swiss army backpack that we already have.

Even if I didn't have a bag that was purse style, he would probably still have his own separate bag. I think it's kind of nice for us to each have our own stash of what we need/want on hand. He obviously has no need to carry around breast pads & lanolin and I probably won't be carrying bottles in mine very often.

  • We will have one diaper bag.  I'm not into the purse looking or girly/baby-ish diaper bags, so  he'll just use the same one.  He seemed glad that I wanted a plain one so that we could share.  To each his own, though...if your husband is into having his own, maybe it'll help him feel more into all of it.  We get to do most of the care of the babies, so I could see a guy wanting to have something of his own that he can use to take care of the baby :)

  • No, DH and I will not have seperate bags and I don't think it's necessary. I can see why if you're having a girl and you want a pink frilly bag than it may be nice for DH to have his own, but even if I was having a girl I still would have purchased a generic black, brown, or blue diaper bag. However, I'm one of those people who doesn't really care about accessories so a designer diaper bag has never been something I wanted. I just wanted a diaper bag that we can both carry, has everything I need and can be thrown in the washer.

  • We will have seperate ones. I have two and they are both really girly looking so I wouldn't expect him to use them. I wanted a ponk coach diaper bag so there really wasn't a question about if he would need a seperate one.

  • No.  At first I wanted a cuter one, but then I decided I'd rather get something that doesn't even really look like a diaper bag and will be handy years later, if it lasts that long.  Mine is Eddie Bauer, plain khaki color.  I have a smaller one, too, but it's plain brown.  I think it has a tiny picture of a baby carriage or something on it.

I'm NOT into bags at all, though.  I usually look for the plainest, smallest purse I can find that is big enough to fit what I need.

  • Yes - we already do. I think it's dumb that we carry different bags, but DH doesn't like the bag we have. The one I have is not frilly either. Black suede - very simple. But he thinks it's to big and I carry to much stuff. I actually am not the type to overpack either - but whatever. So he insists on using a back pack he already has. He says it's easier to carry than my bag which goes over one shoulder.

But since he is willing to carry needed supplies - then I really don't care how he does it. And no we don't both carry a bag at the same time, it just depends on who is getting the bag or going out.

  • Nope. I have no interest in a cutesy diaper bag and there's no reason to have more than one laying around.
