Re: Mommy Monday check-in
Any updates?
Our adventures in eating are still going well. She's now had rice cereal, oatmeal, green beans, bananas, carrots, squash and I gave her a tiny taste of avocado yesterday when I was making myself guacamole
She officially is a belly sleeper. For over a week now, every time I get her or check on her before I leave in the mornings, she is on her belly. It no longer bothers me because I know she can mover herself just fine if she needs to.
What is one thing that you LO did this week to make you smile?
She finally mastered the jumperoo. She is a jumping machine and it is the cutest thing ever. It makes me smile every time.
Here is Caroline playing on her "piano" this weekend.
N has become such a clown lately. He has the biggest goofball smile and everytime I tell him "no" he smiles which of course cracks me up.
This week we went and got his 4th haircut! He needed it...he was looking like straight out of a mugshot.
There are pictures in my blog, I'm at work and too lazy to figure out how to post pics from here.
He also started saying "please" and "thank you" although it sounds more like "pi" and "anku".
Yay! This is my first Mommy Monday in months!
Updates: I decided to go back to school a few years ago and do it all over again in another field. It has been a long few years to say the least, with my most difficult semester being this last one. But I did it!!! I was so proud to have my little monkey there...it was a wonderful day.
Kash is still my monkey hanging from the ceilings! He is having his tonsils out on the 25th. I don't know if I am making the right decision because the specialist said they don't like to do this until at least 3 but since he has had strep 11 times in 20 months, it is necessary. This will be the fourth time he will go under in less than 2 years...that is the worst part.
We took him to an allergy specialist and he is basically allergic to everything under the sun. Farming (which doesn't bode well living in Lubbock!), grass, weeds, trees, etc. The only thing he is not allergic to is animal dander which I am extremely grateful for! And so is our dog; she can stay now. ;-)
He is full of life and curiosity and such a sweet boy. Our biggest problem right now is he beats the sh!t out of everything and everyone. I don't know how to stop it so I am hoping he "grows out" of it soon!
My little Kikimonster is such an AW. We were at lunch the other day and a parade of grandmas (as my cuz called them) walked by, seriously there was like 15 old ladies. Each one of them stopped, she is so adorable. And each time K smiled as if she hadn't seen the first one. It was pretty hilarious.
Other than that she is moving right along. Still no crawling but she is cruising around the living room furniture now. She has almost discovered that she can push her activity table around the house to get places. It is pretty funny. It moves and she looks at it and sits down and pushes it so it moves again. Then she stands back up to play and it moves when she isn't ready and the process starts all over again.
And we're in full birthday planning mode now. I got an email saying that she is 43 weeks old, that's only 9 weeks to get her birthday together. Jeez.
Phoebe is doing great. She turned 5 months old on the 5th! She is getting so big now. Here is her 5 month old pic:
She can sit unsupported now but she still falls over all the time. She seems to have discovered her feet in the last couple of days and keeps trying to take her socks off so she can play with her toes.
We started her on some solids a few weeks ago. I hadn't been giving them to her very often but I started noticing on the evenings I didn't give them to her she was acting a lot more cranky. It didn't matter if I nursed her more or not she just wanted the solids. So far she has had rice cereal (which she liked for like 1 day then started spitting it out. And I mean spitting it AT me!), Oatmeal (which she likes), bananas (likes), sweet potatoes (HATES!) and pears (she LOVES these!). She is so funny with the solids. She gets a really weird look on her face as she decides and if she doesn't like it she will spit it at you. She gets it all over me and her when she does this. And its not that she isn't hungry because if you give her something she likes she will eat it like crazy. Like the pears, she will take the spoon away from you to shove it in her mouth as fast as she can. But I still keep trying to stuff she doesn't like, I'm just going to have to figure out how to get sweet potatoes out of everything.
The girl wants to crawl so bad. She is still on her belly but with straight arms and she rocks trying to launch herself forward. I think she is trying to keep up with Rowen. She watches everything he does and when he looks at her she just lights up. I'm going to have to start baby proofing because she is already rolling all over the place to get where she wants to go.
You ladies have such cutie-pies! I (finally!!!) added Noah's pic to my siggy.
As for things he's done to make me smile - well, everything! Last night I propped him up in the corner of the couch so he was sitting and it was the first time he really took notice of the dog walking by him and he just started giggling. It was adorable! And he's also started babbling - A LOT and he keeps saying "mmmmuum", which I know is obviously not intentional at this age, but it still warms my heart. He is such a sweet, happy little boy.
Congratulations Rachel! What did you get your degree in?
Today is my first day back to work after Christmas vacation so that is hard:(. I took Josh to get a routine hearing test a couple weeks ago and we found out he has a mild hearing loss due to fluid in his ears. They referred us to an ENT, and they recommended we try a course of antibiotics, and if that doesnt work he should get tubes. I was really surpised since the loss is so mild I never would have known. Also, he doesnt have a history of ear infections or anything. Im really hoping the antibiotics work, since Im hesitant about tubes, but whatever will help him.
Other than that the kids are great and make me smile every day. They play together a lot now, and It is a fun age with Josh since he is learning so much now, and seems to say a new word every couple days. Also, I realize I better change my siggy pic soon, Halloween is long gone!
Natalee-You can change me from nykris to Kristen on the list. Thanks
I can't remember if I've ever done a Mommy Monday!
Any updates? We are going to have to have a meeting with the school and Gavin's teachers because he also likes to beat the sh!t out of everything and everyone. He is hitting the kids and they are afraid of him. He is also hitting his teachers and walked up to another parent and hit them. I am hoping this is a phase as well. I don't know what to do. I started crying in the office when I was talking to the daycare director about it last week. Good times.
On the flip side, Gavin is usually pretty happy and loving. He is talking up a storm and repeating everything we say. This week when I handed him a cup of milk he said "Thank you Mama!!" And when I told him thank you for something he said "You welcome!" Definitely made me smile!
New pic in siggy! I hardly have any pictures of me with Gavin since I'm always the one taking the pictures
Any updates?
Kari's cord fell off this morning - yay for being able to take a real bath!
What is one thing that you LO did this week to make you smile?
She sleeps in the Carter's sleepbags and I love them. She loves to move her legs alot - it looks like she's riding a bicycle, so I swaddle her at night to help her sleep - and it works. The other night she was awake for a while, but not crying, so I just let her be in her bassinet. When I changed her diaper before feeding her, I realized why she'd been so quiet and awake - she was working her legs to unswaddle the blankets and then got her diaper open with all the movement. I had to smile because there is nothing better than waking up at 2 a.m. to find everything soaked with pee.
Needless to say, we aren't in NB diapers anymore, and size 1's fit so much better!
Any Updates? I posted most of my updates in previous post. Addison is going through a whiny phase where every time she wants something she starts whining and so I only respond to her whines by asking her to say please and it seems to be working for now.(fingers crossed)
I've been shopping for a toddler bed for her. Her crib at the condo will convert to a toddler bed but I have to get a toddler bed for the house during the week. That's the only bad thing about living between two places is that we have to buy two of everything. I've also been looking for toddler bedding and I didn't realize they had so many choices...it's making my decision that much harder.
Something that made you smile? This morning while I was making breakfast I heard Addison saying "No No" and when I turned around she was putting her Dora doll in time out and then she kept saying to Dora "Sorry Dora"...I was laughing so hard I was crying.
Picture from breakfast this morning. She was happy that I made Cream of Wheat instead of Eggo Waffles for a change
So cute!! Congrats!!
We went away to our friends this weekend. We finally asked our friend to be her God mother, so we have to get our butts in gear for a baptism. Trying for next month, but wondering if that might be pushing it just a little and should hold out for April. I don't know yet. DH is sick so I hope Ace doesn't get it esp. cause DH is out of town tomorrow for the night. We introduced solids this week, today to be exact. It went alright.
The after solids picture.
While visiting this past weekend, Ace got upset by the smell in the pub we were in. She didn't want our two friends or her daddy, she wanted me. That made me smile, even if it meant me having a hard time with my food.
Reese is eating a little more rice cereal each day. I've been taking it reeeeeally slowly, adding a tiny bit each day just to be sure it's not upsetting her tummy, etc. She is currently eating about 4 teaspoons a day. She's still sleeping like crap. *sigh* She is obsessed with her feet, & she sucks her toes every chance she gets, which made me smile several times this week.

Loving the butternut squash macaroni and cheese! Briley is doing great. She got a stride-to-ride dino for Christmas and she has been getting around pretty well walking behind it. She learned to point and uses her new skill all the time. We also got a mirror to put in the car so that I can see her and she was so cute when she figured out she could see me. She makes me smile every day
After one of our 3 am feedings, I was putting her back in the crib and she said "mama." Of course I had to cuddle her for a few more minutes!
Rachel- Congratulations!! What a wonderful accomplishment!!!
Gianna is doing great and looks to be getting her 6th tooth!!! She is giving kisses now with a wide open mouth and lots of slobber lol, and she is now clapping her hands...whenever I say "yay" she automatically starts clapping, but to be honest she claps all the time for absolutely no reason...it is so cute to see.....I don't have a picture of either because both are not as easy to catch on camera, but here is a picture of her in her jumperoo as happy as always..
She is also back to STTN....it took a few days of the old ferber method but now she rarely wakes up in the night and if she does it is for a split second...She is just an awesome kid!!! God I love that face
Any updates? Nia is saying, "Dadadada" a lot and making DH very excited although I've explained she isn't saying daddy! I do think she will consciously say "daddy" first though. She is rolling over still but only from right to left; we keep trying left to right which she only did once.
What is one thing that you LO did this week to make you smile? Rolling over on command! Once she realized we made a big deal out of it she does it constantly to the point that tummy time is becoming hard for her to stay on her tummy. As soon as we put her on her tummy she flips to her back then looks at us as though she's so proud and is awaiting our praise! We flip her back to her tummy, but she goes right back to her back. (I have a video of her rolling on command to post to the blog; I will try to get it up at the end of the week!)
Here she is bundled up before we hit the streets of NYC today:
Mari is crawling (finally!) in very small spurts. Two crawl steps at a time, but crawling none-the-less. She's finally figured out how to get from laying down to sitting up by getting herself onto all fours and backing up from there. It's friggin hysterical and she's become a true pro at it.
Mari is a very funny kid and has made me smile lately by razzin' everyone and everything. Her gymboree teacher asked her how she was doing yesterday and mari looked at her, went all serious, and gave a big "pthbzzzz." Hil-ar-ious.

I'm way late on the Mommy Monday post! Ooops! Kellen is getting so big, it makes me sad! He's a maniac though---cruising around the house like a madman! He is not content sitting. He has to be up and moving around. He just started waving this past weekend---it's adorable. He still just has 2 teeth, but can eat solids like a champ. I gave him grilled cheese tonight for the first time and he gobbled it down.
He makes me laugh all the time. The funniest thing he has done lately is "snuck up" behind me when I'm sitting on the floor. He crawls up behind me and grabs on to my back and giggles hysterically when I grab for him. It's the best sound to hear him laugh!
No pic yet---I need to get them all off my camera first!
