Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Just started getting very scared at bath time..

So the past 3 or 4 baths my LO has been freaking out when I take him out of his tub. What could have set this off?? Also, just last night, when I brought him into my bathroom where he gets his bath, he was holding on to my shirt really tight like he was scared.

I have toys in the tub and he's so happy while getting a bath.  He loves his baths while he is taking one, but getting him in and out is my problem.

To ease him out of the tub and not freak him out, I let him stand a minute and let him lean on my chest and then I wrap him in his towel and take him out. It seems to help but I'm concerned as to why he would just now start this. Before I started this, we would take him out and lay him on a towel on top of our bathroom rug and wrap him up.

My husband and I are the only two people who have ever given him a bath so I'm positive he was never dropped or anything. It makes me sad to know he is so scared.

Is anyone else's LO like this and what do you do to help?

  • Not that I'm aware of. We try and keep it the same all the time. What I was doing not that long ago is putting his towel in the dryer and wrapping him up in that. I'll maybe try heating up the bathroom and heating his towel again. I'll try anything at this point.
  • DS#1 went through bath stages.  Sometimes he loved it, sometimes he'd be terribly excited to get in the bath and other times he'd just cry and cry with no reason.  Just went in phases.

  • DS does this sometimes getting out of the bath. On days where he doesn't nap well he'll sometimes fuss through the whole thing. He also LOVES to play in the tub so sometimes when he gets out he gets pissed.
