In Dr. Sears' book he says that if Tylenol doesn't work (or isn't as effective as you want), you can give ibuprofin 2 hours later. It's not clear whether you can keep doing this, or if it's just on the first dose....
It's every 3 hours, according to my pedi, and the nice surgeon at the ER who sewed DS's head shut.
That way, LO gets Tylenol every 6 hours, for a max of 4 doses in 24 hours, and Ibuprofen every 6 hours as well. You keep them covered, and don't overdo either of the medications.
