Great night lights?

I usually hang out over at the 3rd tri board, but seeing as I'm about to pop and I'll be a SAHM, I figured I'd cut to the chase.  So, hi!

DS's crib is just a few feet from my bed, and I want to keep a soft light on so I can check up on him easily.  I registered for the twilight turtle, but the reviews kinda suck and I don't know if it will do the job.  I love the LED Candela line and will probably end up going that route if I don't find something else soon.

I also really, really love the constellation and rippling water style lights but can't find any decent ones with reasonable shipping rates.  Plus I'm on the fence about whether that would get annoying.

Does anyone have a night light they absolutely adore?

Re: Great night lights?

  • We started with the Fisher Price projector, because it had different patterns for increasing development.  However, it was battery operated and just wasn't bright enough and didn't have long enough timer.  So we went in search of something else.

We ended up with the Homepedics Lullaby projector.  I will forewarn you, after a return (and one in waiting), I found out the projector does have lots of problems - namely, it stops spinning after awhile.  However, we have made do with the single picture when it won't spin.  It gives enough light to see him (and has two settings for brightness) as well as has the sounds we needed (he is a light sleeper) - heart beat, ocean, rain, & 3 lullabies that you can adjust both volume and time for (from 15 minutes to constant).  It has worked for us.  If you just want it for the light factor, it would not get annoying (to me)...the music gets on my nerves some nights, but we have had it every nap & night for over a year on the same song, so I think it goes without saying anything would be annoying after that long.

We also got this bear thing you can plug in to charge and then as they get older they can "take with them" if they are coming to mommy's room or the bathroom type thing.  It actually gave off the right kind of light also, but I kept forgetting to charge it. GL, I was surprised how hard it was to find something that we liked.

  • We use a small lamp that is maybe 10in tall with a night light bulb in it.  It works perfectly, is bright enough that we can see to check up on him.  When ds was an infant we had a brighter bulb once he was in his room on his own so I could try to not stumble getting to him in the middle of the night.
