Vick's Vapo-Rub?

I know the label says 2 and older, but is that just CYA or for realsies?   C and I have been running non-stop snot the past few days and it'd be nice to help him feel a little better.  I know I plan to smell metho-lypus-y good at bed time tonight.  Sexy sexy!

Re: Vick's Vapo-Rub?

  • I was told not to use it because when they breath it in it can coat part of their lungs. Do you ever give him benedryl? We have been battling the runny nose this week. Hope you all get better soon.

  • There is a baby vapo-rub that can be used from six months. Miss Bev puts the regular stuff on her feet if I don't pack the baby stuff.

  • I have no idea, but you just reminded me of one of my favorite smells from my childhood.  Oh and I just loved how my jammies stuck to my chest when I had it on :)

  • The pharmacist told us not to use it with Sarah yet and she started crying when she smelled it. I think it's too strong for them at that age.

  • If you're worried about it being too strong, our pedi told me to rub it on her clothes.  You don't need a lot and they can still get the benefit of it w/o it coming into directo contact with their skin.  Hope you guys feel better!

  • There's a milder version of that for babies, it's called Baby Rub, Vicks makes it too. Just look for it where the other baby OTC medicine is. I've used it for Adrian and it's great, it really helps him.

  • i agree with the others, the baby rub is good stuff. if you worry, put it on you while you are holding your little one. That helps too.

it is difficult to see our precious ones sick and even worse when we too are sick and cannot give as much as would like to our little ones. ((hugs to you both))

Our Pedi said it was ok to use a thin layer when DD went to bed.
