Right now DD gets Enfamil Newborn (and pumped BM). She gets very gassy and squirmy during late night feedings. I have heard that Gentlease is better? Any experiences?
I went from Enfamil Newborn to gentlease when LO was about 3 weeks old. It did make a difference for her. She also seemed to be gassy and squirmy. I liked it, and the Gentlease was only a 1-2 dollars more than the Newborn so that wasn't so bad.
Then at about 10-12 weeks, I switched her back to the Newborn because I thought maybe she was missing something and she has been fine with it since then.
With DS1, he started out on regular Enfamil and around 3 weeks, I switched him to Gentlease and he stayed on that his first year and did great with it. I supplement with formula this time and just switched DS2 to Gentlease as well.
We switched DD to Gentlease about a month ago. It seems to be working well. I did notice DD was spitting up more when we switched. But her pedi said when babies hit 6 weeks the spit up more in general, so maybe it has nothing to do with the Gentlease.. ??
Yes we did go from Enfamil newborn to Gentlease with our son. He did great on Gentlease for a month and a half but was more gassy than ever, then we ended up on Gerber Goodstart Gentle Plus and it has been THE BEST for him yet! Hes been on that 4 months now, easy to mix, less expensive and he has less spit up and gas.
We switched from Similac Advanced to Gentlease and it has been great. LO had a really tough time with the similac (LOTS of gas and spitting up which resulted in losing weight instead of gaining). Went on Gentlease and everything has been great. minimal spit up and very little gas. However, this is TMI but LO's gas and dirty diapers def now had a more powerful smell . I'll take it though if it means LO will keep gaining weight.
We tried it at the pedi's recommendation. He absolutely refused to take the Gentlease though. He'd put the nipple in his mouth, suck once and spit it out and scream. I'd end up making a Premium bottle and then we'd try it again the next time and he did the same thing. I threw the Gentlease out and we are now on Similac Soy.

This was our situation, too. We went to Enfamil ProSobee and he's been great on it.
We've tried numerous formulas. We've currently just started Nestle Good Start Gentle Plus, and I hope this one works.
These did not work for us:
- Enfamil Newborn (very gassy/seemed painful - less sleep, lots of poops)
- Similac Sensitive (ate way too often - every 2 hours & p'd a lot!)
- Kirkland/Costco brand (didn't mix well, foamy, crying, spit up a lot)
- Similac Advance (spit up a lot!)
We have yet to try Gentlease.
