Mom's of circumcised boys come in....

Did any of you have the Plastibell method done for the circumcision? It is supposed to fall off in 8 days. Today is the 8th day for my son and it is still on there. He has some swelling and bleeding which I know is not normal. We have an appointment with the urologist at 4:30 but I was wondering if any of you had any infections/trouble with your son using the Plastibell. TIA.

  • Yeah i dont know if my LO had the pastibell, but he had a platic ring on his penis and i was told that it would fall off on its own. At his one week pedi apointment, his doctor actually took it off and told me it was not saposto be left on there because it was a hazad. She then called up my hospital and biitched them out :/ I happen to work at the hospital i deleivered at, but thank god not on the maturnity floor !

  • Landon's didn't come off until the morning of his 2 week appoinment, DH noticed it was loose and took it the rest of the way off, so it didn't even come off on its own. Landon had some issues with his as well...there is a small area on the underside of his penis where the skin seperated. I first noticed this while the ring was still on, which is part of the reason DH just went ahead and took it off. It bled and was swollen for a few days, but my pedi said it was fine and would heal by itself. Unfortunately, there is a substantial amount of scar tissue there now and I'm afraid that his penis doesn't look "normal". At this point there isn't much that can be done to correct it I don't think, at least not without another procedure and more pain for little man. I will keep an eye on it as he grows to see if it gets any better. If not, we may have to look into fixing it later on, which I know defeats the purpose of not causing him pain, but I don't want him to have to live with a deformed penis for the rest of his life either. DH had to be circ'd twice when he was little and the scars still make him self-conscious even though I'm the only one who sees them. I guess I am hoping that Landon's becomes less noticable with time, as our pedi promised.

My DS's fell off a couple of days after day 8.

We had no problems. It worked great. Everything looks great.

This was our experience too.  Maybe day 9 or 10.
