Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Expecting again after IVF
Can't answer. Depends on what cycle you're talking about!
My first 3 cycles:
Meds were covered, everything else was out of pocket.
4th cycle - new insurance at work:
Most everything was covered. Minimal out of pocket.
5th cycle- new job, IF coverage:
If I had stayed local, most would have been covered. But because I went out of state (Cornell), only about 1/2 was covered. Meds were totally covered, but we ended up footing about 1/2 the bill for allthe procedures, etc.

My situation is different. . . my DH is military and TRICARE doesn't cover many aspects of IF treatment. But, because Walter Reed is a teaching hospital, they provide ART services at a greatly reduced cost. So, for our IVF we paid out of pocket for the procedure (meds were covered but not by insurance), but it was well below what we would have paid at a civilian clinic. (And it is a very no-frills operation--you have to provide your own chaperon for early morning monitoring appointments which resemble a cattle call--or a "take a number system" like at the deli counter.) But, the doctors are well trained and know their stuff.

Insurance covered all of it for IVF #1 and all but $5,000 for IVF #2, which we paid out of pocket. If we do any further IVFs, it will all be out of pocket.
Re: Poll: How did you pay for IVF?
