When did you start not swaddling LO at night?

I am wondering when ppl start to do this. Some of the blankets I have say they go up to when LO is 3.5 months... do you use the magic suit or what? DS still flings his hands and arms all over the place every 5 seconds when he isn't swaddled.

    I stopped at 3 months when we went to stay at a friends house who is an OT and she said babies shouldn't be swaddled past 1 month b/c the need to be able to extend their arms.  I got nervous and stopped swaddling immediately!  She did fine with it though.  What if you got the sleep sack with the swaddle to put him down and then un-do the velcro when he falls asleep and then gradually just move to the sleep blanket???  just a thought

    We stopped cold turkey at 4 months.  This is when I read was best and this is what our pedi recommends.  She did really, really well!  She wore a sleep sack (has arms but a sack for her legs) for a couple weeks after.  Now she is in footy jammies.

    I still swaddle because she pulls her paci out if her arms are free, then wakes up immediately.  My friend swaddled for a year.  I don't know of problems that come from this...maybe I need to look into it more.  All I know is that it would take a long time to get her used to not being swaddled and she'd have to CIO.

    There is a video on the miracle blanket website and the woman on the video says that the baby's startle reflex goes away around 14 weeks, and that is a good time to stop swaddling.

    We had been using Halo Sleepsack Swaddles, and the package says to stop when LO shows signs of rolling over, breaking loose, or not wanting it.  This often happens at about 3-4 months.  We switched DS2 to regular Halo Sleepsacks when we stopped swaddling (we weaned him gradually).

    My baby is 14 weeks and definitely still startles.  She'd never sleep if we didn't swaddle her.
