If you have other LO's...noise level

So, DS is either talking loud all day or seems to be in a yelling phase. He yells form one room to the next all the time and even sometimes he yells when we are all in the same room. It's not a screaming obnoxious thing, it's more like he wants to make sure he has your attention. I try to tell him that his sister is sleeping and he needs to be more quiet and I believe he understands it and remembers but sometimes he just forgets. SO far DD can sleep through all of the yelling, loud toy playing and all that stuff but I'm afraid that she eventually won't and he'll wind up waking her up.

Is anyone else dealing with this? If so, what are you doing? I try to have DD sleep in another room (my room upstairs if we are downstairs playing) but I also don't want her to get too used to the quiet and then no be able to sleep if there is noise.

Re: If you have other LO's...noise level

 • I make as much noise as I can (vacuuming, dishes, washer/dryer doors slamming) and I don't tell the other LO to be quiet either... it was noisy in your belly and that is what they are used to.

 • I have 4 dogs who are well, dogs, and they're loud and crazy when they play. I don't try to stop them. LO needs to be able to sleep when it's noisy and this is one of the ways we differentiate naps vs nighttime sleep. At night the dogs sleep and the house is quiet and he sleeps fine too. I don't think you should stop DS from being a kid and expecting him to be super quiet because that's really not fair for him...but of course keep it within reason.
