Hi there! My name is Ashley and my fiance and I just found out we're expecting. We are looking for an OB or Midwife but I don't even know where to start =( We live right down the street from the new Methodist Women's Center but I got scared when I read that there could be problems should the baby or I need emergency care/surgery after delivery. Any opinions/thoughts? I am thinking about having a midwife but not sure. Could anyone give their thoughts on the following Drs/Midwives?
Dr. Nancy Matthews @ Methodist WC
The Midwives @ Methodist WC
Dr. N. Jean Amoura @ UNMC
Thanks!! I hope that picking a great dr/midwife will help with some of this fear that I'm feeling.
Re: New to Omaha AND pregnancy
If you dont get much response here try the Omaha Nest.

Sometimes there isnt much chatter over here. The Omaha Nestie girls have alot of great advice and I know they would be able to answer your questions.
So who did you decided to go with?
Out of the ones you listed I would go with the Midwives for sure! I saw them for my last pregnancy and they were AMAZING! I LOVE them and wont see anyone else. I was high risk bc of IUGR (I also saw Dr. Foley, she is a perinatologist) and I had the most amazing, perfect, natural, unmedicated, calm birth experience. They are so supportive and wonderful. I had a lot going on during my pregnancy and would not have gotten thru it so well without them! I hope you have found a provider who can help you have the birth YOU want!!

Dr. Foley is awesome. I saw her as well - I had an extremely complicated pregnancy and unfortunately lost our baby after a few days, but the Methodist/NICU team was fantastic... so I'm not sure what you're talking about as far as there being problems should the baby need care or surgery. IMHO Children's is the best surgery, but now that there aren't deliveries at that hospital anymore you would have to be transported from whatever hospital you were at to begin with anyway.
