Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

super early waker? what i wish i had known!

DD started waking for the day anywhere between 4:30 and 5:30 am once she started STTN at 11 months old.  We tried EVERYTHING to get her to sleep later, but nothing ever, ever worked.  We dealt this for over a year.  Finally I coughed up the money and purchased the Good Nite Lite at a friends suggestion.  It's AMAZING!

We've been using it for a month now and I routinely have to wake her up at 7:30!  I soooooooo wish we had tried it earlier, such an easy fix.  That's all, just wanted to share....  https://www.goodnitelite.com/

And no, I don't work for them.

Oh!  We also had to set the moon to come on just one minute before the sun because it was too bright and was waking her in the middle of the night...  some of you may have that same issue.

  • Can I ask you how this is mounted and plugs in?

We're looking for a new nightlight in DD's room but all of her plugins are covered by furniture so we've been using Christmas lights in her room...

  • it plugs into a regular outlet, but definitely takes up the space for both plugs.
  • Thank you for the suggestion.  What age do you think is old enough to understand it?  DS is 17 months old.  DH suggested getting a light with a timer because DS always wakes up at 5:30 even though we don't let him get up until 6.  I think he might still be a little young.

  • I'm not sure exactly, but if he can understand the difference between moon and sun (one is blue and the other is orange) I think he'll get it.  We did a lot of "say goodnight to mr. moon" and "now we don't get up until we see mr. sun" and stuff like that.  every morning now she'll jump up in her crib and say "i wake up!  look, mommy, the sun orange!"  i don't think it's ever too early to try...
  • what made you finaly get this item?  if the moon doesnt come out for you until a min before sun, what shows up on night light?  Just wondering.. TIA

  • I've been wondering if I should get this to help keep Adam in bed at night.  He's big on moon at night and sun during the day, so that theme might help him.
  • pure exhaustion and desperation!

it's just dark.  she's always done better without any light than a night light, but that may have been part of the issue.  when she woke at 4:30 she had no idea whether it was night or day.

  • Thanks again for your reply.  He already knows what the moon and sun are, so maybe I will give it a shot.
