TLC- extreme couponing

Im watching this right now and OMG. this chick went to the store total was $638 and after coupons she paid about $2.50. Yes I typed that right $2.50. I wish I could be like that. I may have to become the crazy coupon lady.

Also she had a full garage full of food. She is awesome!

  • This is nuts!! 238 bucks down to 6.92!!! I need to learn how to do this. Except for we don't have the freezer and pantry space!
  • Oooo, now I can't wait to watch. I DVR-ed this to get inspiration. I know there's so much I could do with coupons to save. And since I have so much free time I need to get on it!

  • People who can coupon like that amaze me! DH and I will clip coupons and go through the grocery ads to see what items we have coupons for that are also on sale, but our bill is never that low!

  • i caught the end of it. i need to step my game up.

annnnd now i'm watching this My Strange Addiction show. eating toilet paper and sleeping with the hair dryer on...

  • I was amazed. Saw one lady on the show that had about $1142 worth of stuff (9 carts and like 6 hrs in the store) and she ended up paying $51 and change.

It is amazing. I dont think we can do that in Canada. I dont seem to find coupons like that where you can double up and stuff

  • I saw the one guy donated stuff, but really how much deodorant and toothpaste and salad dressing do you need.  It'd be nice to see them donate more especially since they just love the thrill of the hunt.

yeah, that guy was nice to donate it.  It honestly seems like a type of hoarding to buy it all to have it sit around in your garage. So I'm glad someone else can use it.

I only caught the end so I recorded it when it comes on again at 1 am for those of you that want to watch that whole thing!

I'm lurking from 2nd tri, but just had to reply - This exactly! How much stuff do these people need to stockpile? It seemed to be all about the quantity of food and bottom line price...not the need for food. DH said it best - it's like an organized version of Hoarders.  The one guy had enough deodorant to last 150 years! What a waste...it makes you wonder how much in there will expire before use. While the one guy did donate a ton of Total cereal, he also had a 2 car garage stockpiled with what he estimated was $50,000 in food - for which he paid $1000. I don't think the show participants understood they were being examined for their disorder...not their success.   Sorry for the mini rant on the show - it really bothered me!

  • I went to Albertson's once and bought $115 worth of food and only paid $50 for it with all the coupons they had. They double most coupons at the register and send out flyers with coupons to double any coupon up to $1- and if you bring several of those, man are you doing good. Unfortunately DH wanted to start using the commissary, and they don't take anything but commissary coupons- and if you print off any online they won't accept those. So I don't get to use coupons anymore. :(

I didn't get to see that show though, what was it called?

  • I just changed the channel over to see, and since I am on the west it will start in 30 min. I set it to record on the DVR. Should be interesting!

  • I didn't see the show but it would be nice if instead they could teach the average person (without spending 70 hrs a week clipping) how to get good deals.

I frequent the site hip2save.com......she usually can show you how to get a lot of things for next to nothing! I also clip from Target.com and you can also use manufacturer's coupons with Target.com to maximize the discount.

  • It is amazing.  I use some coupons, but I'm not willing to spend hours and hours of my life researching and collecting coupons.  I was bugged too that they don't donate more to charity.
