Admittedly she likes finger food type stuff more than the purees I've been buying but it's still not with any sort of gusto. Am I alone in this? I just read in Baby 411 that by know she should be doing 6-14oz of solids a day, we're lucky if she takes in 2-4oz.

She's juuuust about 20lbs though so it's not like she's starving but still, I feel like we're really, really behind in this.
Re: 8.5 months and still not into eating solids - anyone else?
My DD is the exact same. She turns 8 months this THursday, and honestly, if I get 2 oz in her a day, it's a good day. Today she had like 2 oz of oatmeal/applesauce, and a couple puffs and pieces of sweet potato. She's usually not interested in solids purees, and most of the finger foods, though they capture her attention, don't make into her mouth and down her throat! Sigh.
I did read somewhere though that some pediatric associations/organizations are recommending waiting on solids until a year even. Plus I remember reading that introducing solids is just meant as a "training," not necessarily a diet staple. She seems to be getting enough calories I think, so I'm not going to worry about it unless my pedi says something.
We don't have an issue with solids, but seeing as she's a good weight I wouldn't worry too much. She's getting way more vitamins and minerals from BM or formula than she would from solids anyway. Like PP said...it's just training.
I guess it's a good sign for how your milk has been doing for her (I think I remember that you're BFing)...
My DD HAD to start eating solids because breastmilk wasn't enough for her anymore. She's a peanut at only 14 pounds @ 6 mos. She gobbles it down!
