Contrax

When going into labor should my contrax be painful or just timeable?  The dr. has told me repeatedly that if they are 5 min. apart that I should call.  I am having them about 5-6 min. apart for the last hour but nothing very painful, just some cramping here and there.

Re: Contrax

  • I'm pretty sure they should be painful and consistent. That's how it was with DD. EXTREMELY painful! I've been cramping like crazy for the past 4 days and even some painfully contractions like I had with DD, but nothing consistent, so I'm waiting for another sign, like some show or for my water to break. I'm ready to be DONE! I was already yelling at them to get out this morning lol

  • if your contrax are constant regardless of whether you move or you switch positions, etc. Then it's real. I keep having false labor - no pattern, if I move I can cause the contrax to be delayed or stop altogether.

At this point, if I can get to 5-6 mins in an hour I would call in and go.

FWIW, some of my contrax have been painful and some of them haven't been and it's still not "real" labor.

  • I am just hoping for some sort of sign I guess.  Yesterday I had lots of pressure on my bottom with contrax and lots of cramping then it stopped.  I woke up this morning and started having contrax so I am going to give it another hour or so to see what happens.  I don't want to waste my time in L&D if there is nothing going on.
