Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

<sigh> Goodbye, NYE Plans

DH is working, and DS and I were going to be heading to a party tonight ...

But nope, I will be home with my croupy toddler.  Poor baby.  Somehow I suspect I will be ringing in the New Year rocking him in the chair in his bedroom.

Any suggestions to make his night a little easier?? Doctor didn't offer much ... but if it is anything like last night, any suggestions would be welcome :)

  • No suggestions, but my plans changed too.  I was going to leave DS with my mom and go out now that he's feeling much better, but I woke up today feeling pretty crappy :(  Oh well, there's always next year!  Hope your little guy feels better, and you're both able to get some rest.

  • I'm home with tonight too. One baby with croup and an ear infection. The steroids make my already monster child seem like he's just had five shots of espresso. My four year old had his tonsils and adnoids removed Wednesday and is pretty miserable still.

Bundle your baby up and take him out to breath the cold air if he starts having an attack. Sit in a steamy bathroom for about fifteen minutes (do your bedtime stories and routine in there) just before bed to help open his airway. Good luck!

  • Ds#2 has had croup the last few days. Dr put him on an oral steroid and it has helped some. Steam showers and cold air has helped. Also sleeping with the humidifier..

  • Did he get a dose of steroids today? If so that should help tonight not be as bad. DD had croup in July. I slept in her room on the floor with her, my bed is high and super coushion-y so I didn't trust it. Anyway I also had the cool-mist humidifier going all day and night. My pedi said to literally point it in her face when I could. I also would turn the shower on super hot and close the bathroom door and hold DD on my lap. The cool mist and warm steam both seemed to help. 24 hours after her first steroid dose though, I noticed a huge difference. So sorry for your DS, and you, coughs are bad but that cough? It's absolutely pitiful to hear!
