I don't post a lot but thought I'd share my birth story since I always liked reading them. I delivered my 2nd baby last Monday, Dec. 20 by induction. It was the fastest, easiest labor I could have dreamed of. I had already been having contractions off and on for several days before I went in, and when they started the pitocin at 6 a.m. things progressed really fast. I didn't have an epidural with my first baby because she came so fast, so I really wanted one this time around! My nurse made it her mission to make sure I got one. Anyway, my contractions started coming about 5 minutes apart within a half hour after they started pitocin so she ordered the epi. At 7:15 a.m. the anesthesiologist came up and I got the epi...that was the worst part, which really wasn't bad. It is just the weirdest, creepiest feeling to have something being put in your spine. Anyway after that it was smooth sailing. I laid down and rested while my husband would tell me I was having huge contractions that I couldn't feel at all. My parents and his parents came in and hung out; I actually snoozed a little and at about 10 a.m. I thought I could feel some pressure so I mentioned it to the nurse. She kicked everyone out except DH and checked me and I was already at 10. I didn't even feel the urge to push; with my first LO I had to push so bad and had to hold her in before the dr. got there and it was awful. I did 2 sets of 3 pushes and he was out! 8 lbs. 11 oz. and 22 inches long!! And I really didn't feel anything which to me was amazing.
People had told me that your 2nd labor is half the time of your first, and for me that was true for sure. Of course I was sore after the epi wore off, and I was really surprised by how sore my back was for several days afterward from it. But the painkillers they gave me made that better so all is well.
Good luck with all of your labors!
