fun poll about booooooobs

So J is finally totally weaned (uh, by tomorrow). And I am still wearing nursing bras! Now that I'm getting my body back, I have some questions and thought I'd throw them out on a quiet almost-holiday:

  1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant?
  2. Did you BF? If so, how long?
  3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped?
  4. If you didn't nurse, what happened to them after the baby was born (bigger, smaller, saggier, flat like a pancake)?
  5. When did you go back to "normal" bras?
Basically, I'm trying to figure out how long I should wait until I buy new bras. I'm assuming they're not going to stay this size indefinitely so I don't want to have to buy too many.

Re: fun poll about booooooobs

  • These are great questions. I don't know if I have great answers, but here goes:

     1. DEFINITELY got bigger (but then again I really had no where to go but up so to speak;).

    2.  I BFed with DD#1 full time until she was about 11 months, then we were down to 3 nursings a day until she was about 15 months and down to just the bedtime nursing when we stopped completely at 18 months.  I am BFing with #2, looking forward to weaning in a similar way as with DD#1 (and getting rid of that stupid pump!!!) in the next month or so).

    3. Boobs were/are definitely bigger while nursing, though not as big as they were at the end of pregnancy/first few months of BFing.  After #1, they went back to pre-pregnancy size, maybe even a bit smaller -- I was a pretty solid B cup before kids and between kids 1 and 2 I was a small B cup or a big A cup in most bras.

    4.  I went back to normal bras full time when #1 was about 18 months (when we totally stopped BFing)...honestly I hate bra shopping and never feel like I get quite what I need...what seems to work in the store inevitably seems to be not quite right when I get home :(

If you're done, I would maybe wait another month or so just to allow things to "settle" and then "bust" back into normal bra world...sorry for the silly pun--I am dealing with serious sleep deprivation today;)

    1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant?   YES
    2. Did you BF? If so, how long?   Yes, almost one year
    3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped?   YES, then they got smaller than what I was pre-preggo, and flat (like a deflated balloon, but still same amount of skin) and gross
    4. If you didn't nurse, what happened to them after the baby was born (bigger, smaller, saggier, flat like a pancake)? n/a
    5. When did you go back to "normal" bras?  Probably right around the same time I stopped nursing.

    Good luck!!  Jenn

  • I guess I should answer my own . . .

    1. Yes, but not by a lot.
    2. Yes, for 15-16 months.
    3. No! BFing helped me lose all the pregnancy weight and another 10 pounds, which apparently was all from my chest. So I went from a nice D to a small B. Ugh. I'm hoping they rally a little after I wean fully. (Which will be tomorrow. No nursing in 2011!)

Why is this?  I have more than once experienced the same thing and it is incredibly frustrating....  Boobs.  An anomaly.

  • 1. For sure. Up a cup size.

    2. Yep, 13 mos.

    3. Yep, up 2 cup sizes (B pre-preg, C while preg, DD while nursing). They seem to have settled on D. I had heard they would totally deflate, but so far they're still bigger than they were to start with. But it's only been 3 months. And maybe I'd been wearing the wrong size to begin with?

    4.

    5. Immediately. I wore non-nursing bras while nursing if I'd would be away from C or not pumping for awhile and wanted to look nice. It was a $60 Nordstrom bra and sooo worth it. I still wear it, even though it's a little big. I need to go back and treat myself to another one, really. VS just isn't cutting and no size seems to fit right anymore.

    The DC Nest. Winers welcome.

    1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant? YES!  From a B to a D both times.
    2. Did you BF? If so, how long?  Yes.  Until DD was 17 months and I was 24 weeks pregnant.
    3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped?  Yes.  I was already pregnant again so they were big again.  They had changed density when DD was around a year old and they finally stopped leaking though.  They weren't as firm as before but they weren't saggy or flat.
    4. If you didn't nurse, what happened to them after the baby was born (bigger, smaller, saggier, flat like a pancake)?  N/A
    5. When did you go back to "normal" bras?  Not yet.

    1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant? HUGE. I went from a 34C to a 34DD while pregnant. And, then after delivery I was a 34G.
    2. Did you BF? If so, how long? well, EPed for 8/9 months
    3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped? they finally went back to the 34DD during the EPing time. Then after I was finished I went back to a 34C/D and that is where they are now.
    4. If you didn't nurse, what happened to them after the baby was born (bigger, smaller, saggier, flat like a pancake)?
    5. When did you go back to "normal" bras?  about two months after I quit pumping.

  • 1) yes!  my boobs got much bigger.  i went from a 32FF to a 34HH or 34J, depending on the bra.

    2) i am still bfing, but not much anymore.  i ebf-ed until dd was 18 months now.  now i bf sometimes and supplement with soymilk.

    3) boobs got bigger immediately after giving birth and stayed huge for awhile, then slowly went back to near their normal size (i'm now a 32G).

    4) n/a

    5) i bought new 32G bras when dd was 18 months old.  this is also around the time i started wearing underwires again.  so nice!

  • This poll gives me some hope that I might have bigger boobs at some point.  I have only made it up from an A to a B cup during pregnancy (whomp whomp).  I'm eager to see what happens once the baby is born.

    1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant? Ha, they got so big that I think I redefined the word "bigger". They got huge and I looked ridiculous.
    2. Did you BF? If so, how long? Yes, but only bf'd for about 4 months.
    3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped? They got way bigger at first and then relaxed a bit, but were still pretty big.
    4. When did you go back to "normal" bras? I went back to normal bras about a month after I stopped bfing. But because I was fairly heavy (for me), my bra size was still bigger. Over the past year, I lost another 25 lbs and while the rest of my body is pretty close to the size I was when I got married, my chest is still larger. Like I tried on a bikini I wore on my honeymoon and the top looks like pasties, lol. Also, for about 3-4 months after I stopped nursing, my boobs were really flat and droopy, but I don't know how (boobs are so weird), they have kind of fluffed up again and I'm back to having a nice rack :-)
  • This poll was helpful for me too!! However, now I'm dreading even BIGGER boobs during nursing. Pre-preg I was a 36 C/D, now I'm a 38 DD (and that's a little tight!)...to think that I can get even bigger is a little unnerving :( Oh well, at least now I know what to expect :) Thanks ladies!

  • 1. I went up about 1 band and one cup size while PG.

    2. I did BF, for about 10.5 months (the last few weeks were only 1 or 2 feedings per day).

    3. They got bigger while I was nursing, dropped slowly back down while I was tapering off, and were back to normal (both size and shape, though they were pretty much one of my least favorite features even before PG so I didn't have to deal with sagging or anything) within a few weeks.

    5. I was fully back in my old bras about 2 or so weeks after I quit BFing.  I was in my old PG-era bras in the weeks in between.

  • man, i feel like a freak of nature over here, lol! i didn't get any bigger during pregnancy and i've only gone up a teeny bit now that i'm BFing. I was between a 36B-C pre and during pregnancy, and am a solid 36C now.

my dream of baby induced big boobs has been thwarted! :)

So J is finally totally weaned (uh, by tomorrow). And I am still wearing nursing bras! Now that I'm getting my body back, I have some questions and thought I'd throw them out on a quiet almost-holiday:

    1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant?  Not as much the first time.  I went from an A to a C cup this time though.
    2. Did you BF? If so, how long?  The first time, 6 months.  This time, 8 weeks.
    3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped?  Absolutely.  I gained another cup size.  They shrank back to an A cup afterward, but were a lot flabbier.
    4. If you didn't nurse, what happened to them after the baby was born (bigger, smaller, saggier, flat like a pancake)?
    5. When did you go back to "normal" bras? Pretty much right away the first time.  I stopped BFing cold turkey and didn't get engorged though, so I think my supply was almost gone anyway.  Mega engorged this time though.  Ouchie!
Basically, I'm trying to figure out how long I should wait until I buy new bras. I'm assuming they're not going to stay this size indefinitely so I don't want to have to buy too many.

    1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant? Not really.  I was a small B to begin with and would say I was just a bit of a fuller B while pregnant.
    2. Did you BF? If so, how long? I'm EPing right now (LO has been getting milk since day 1 with only a bit of formula supplemented here and there).  I'm not sure how long I'm going to keep it up, though, to be honest.
    3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped? Yes, a little bit.  I don't even think I'm a C though.  They were largest when my milk came in, now they're getting smaller.
    4. If you didn't nurse, what happened to them after the baby was born (bigger, smaller, saggier, flat like a pancake)? n/a
    5. When did you go back to "normal" bras?  haven't yet
  • :

    1. Did your boobs get bigger while you were pregnant?     yes, what I had been waiting for since I was 12 :)
    2. Did you BF? If so, how long? 1 year with my first, 8 months with my second
    3. Did your boobs get bigger while you were nursing? What happened to them after you stopped? yes, but they seemed to get smaller the longer I nursed. Once I quit completely they were as small as before but saggy. I never knew small boobs could sag this much. Sad.
    4. When did you go back to "normal" bras? I stopped wearing nursing bras with my first around 9 months. She was only nursing 3x a day so I started wearing the bras I wore when I was pregnant. Once I quit nursing I went back to wearing my pre-pregnancy bras about a week later. I had to get some new ones with a little support since pre-pregnancy they were small and perky so I could pretty much wear anything.
