I do the last feed at 11 or 11:30 as i am back at work now but one of them or sometimes both will wake up at 3am wanting a binky. Usually they go right back to sleep but half hour later they are back up. I would really love to get away from the binky thing but i'm afraid if i let them cry it out for a bit they will wake up the other one. I'm exhausted....they sleep from 8:30pm, dreamfeed at 11:30 and wake up at 3am.
Any suggestions? They eat 6oz 5-6 times in a 24hr period and they don't seem hungry at 3am. They haven't had a middle of the night feed in a few weeks. I know they may be going through a growth spurt right now so should i be feeding them at 3am? The 3am wake up has been going on for weeks though.
Thanks!
Re: sleep help - 3am wake up every night
Beautiful siggy picture!
We never had luck with the dream feed. We did a feeding at 7:15 and then they would wake again between 2 and 3 to eat and then again at 6 or 7. We tried the dream feed to get them to drop that 2 or 3am but it just didn't work. So we eliminated the dream feed and just fed them at 2 or 3. That went on until about 4.5 months. We eventually decreased that bottle to 3 or 4 ounces. They still kept waking and were awake for about an hour whether we fed them or not so we then stopped feeding. We struggle over night. The wake up time went from 3am to 4am to 4:30am and finally now DS can get to 6am. He would wake up for about an hour each night and just talk and then eventually get tired and need to be given the paci and he'd go back. It seemed that wake up time is just hard to get over and we're still working on it. I hope eventually he'll be able to make it to 7! Sorry that is not help but it was just very tough to eliminate.
You might be dreamfeeding too late. I believe the Baby Whisperer says you shouldn't go later than 11pm or you disrupt their circadian rhythms and they're more likely to wake up late.
Try increasing their first daytime bottle by one ounce and decrease their 3am bottle by 1oz. Do that for 3 days and then decrease & increase again for 3 days until you've eliminated the 3am feed. That worked for us in getting rid of the dream feed. Good luck!
