Meaning - I put DD to bed at 8:30. Later than usual because she was very obviously not going to go down easy tonight. It's going on a half hour now and she's in there talking away, jabbering, blabbering, squealing, screaming (not crying - just yelling for me to come get her). When is enough enough? When do you say, "Ok, let's get up and tire your ass out so you will SLEEP." ??
DD is 16 months. Has been going to bed at 8p for weeks now. Sleeps clean thru the night, will take a two hour (on average) nap mid-day. Every day this week has been NOTHING like that. What's going on here? Does she not need as much sleep suddenly or what? Is it the onslaught of new toys in her room? She barely napped today, no nap yesterday, barely an hour the day before. Late to bed, and very early to rise. I am dying here. Can I not say enough how much this pregnancy is kicking my ass? I physically need the time she normally sleeps to recoup, to rest, whatever. Help?
Annnnnd now she's started the whine-cry. Gah!
Re: How long do you leave LO in bed when he/she is obviously awake and fighting sleep?
Till he falls asleep. As long as he isn't screaming. Otherwise, if he's standing and screaming, I go up there and try to talk to him (I'm not going to explain because it sounds cuckoo but it works with him). He will usually lay back down and go to sleep.
Good luck!
Until she falls asleep. I only go in to check if I think she's got a dirty diaper or if she's really upset. Normally she just talks/sings or kicks the wall for a while.
I've found that on mornings when she sleeps in too late, she doesn't nap well and then it takes her even longer to fall asleep at night.
If she's not crying, we leave her.
If she's fussing/crying a bit, usually it's just cause she dropped (or threw it over) her lovey. Then I retrieve it for her. Rarely, if she continues to throw it over, and fuss/cry, I get her up for about 10 minutes in a darker room (not many lights on). Sometimes she's just hungry so I give her a bottle of milk or some applesauce or yogurt.
If she's screaming, I get her up. It's not common, maybe once every 3-4 weeks, so something's not right.
Yep. Sounds like DD. We never take her out once she has been put to be though.
