Trying to Get Pregnant

Readers come in.........

What are some good books to read?? I just bought some and was given some for Christmas. I don't know about you guys but...I am itching for the new Sookie book, the new Stephanie Plum book, and the new Diesl "7 deadly sins" book to come out!! Over course I have to wait until spring! Ugh... The books I got here recently are:

Deep End of the Ocean by Jacquelin Mitchard

Picture of You (reading now...really good so far) by Caroline Leavitt

Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner

Undead and Unreturnable (Queen Betsy Book #4) by MaryJanice Davidson

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes

Message In a Bottle by Nichoas Sparks

Any thoughts on the books I've gotten so far??

Re: Readers come in.........

  • I haven't read any of those, but I am always looking for new authors. All my favs I have already read every book they wrote. I love Sandra Brown, Lisa Jackson, Mary Higgins Clark, Stephanie Meyer, and Lisa Gardner. They write mystery style books and always have a little juicyness to themStick out tongue

  • I read Good in Bed awhile back and I remember it being pretty good....an easy chic-lit read. I've heard Eat Pray Love is fabulous, it's on my reading list as well!

Love love love Twilight!! Have you read Charlaine Harris?? I love her Sookie books (Trueblood is based off them). I also enjoyed (though not as much as the Sookie books) her Harper Connelly series, and Lily Bard series. I really like Janet Evanovich's writing she does humor really well (the Stepahnie Plum series and the Diesl 7 deadly sin books).

I bought DH Girl w/ the Dragon Tattoo for Christmas. Jury is out whether I will read Water for Elephants. I heard it has some vivid animal cruelty scenes in it.

No, but I will definetely check her out! I am in need of a new series really bad. I am currently reading The Host for the third time while waiting for one of my authors to release a new book lol

  • I am reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman. It is really good so far. It is kind of like a more grown up Harry Potter.

I got a Kindle for Christmas and DH got me Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the 2 books after it. I'm about a quarter of the way through Dragon Tattoo and it's starting to get good. The beginning took a little while to get into (I had been warned about that, so I made myself stick with it), but it's really getting interesting!!

I love all these! Amanda, definitely start with Sookie or Stephanie Plum, you won't be able to get enough.

I really wanted another series to get into so I just started The Vampire Diaries, I'll let you know how I like it. :)

Sookie series is ike an adult Twilight... It's what the world would be like if vampire's were "out of the coffin." lol Stephanie Plum (which has 16 books and counting plus 4 "in between" books) is about a girl who has no experience whatsoever in being a bounty hunter in Jersey..and is one. Harper Connelly can find dead people along with how they died b/c she was struck by lightning. Lily Bard is about a girl who tries to live a quiet life in a small town but always ends up playing detective.

  • From your list, I've only read Eat, Pray, Love.  I wasn't a fan, but based on your list I think we enjoy very different types of books :)   A lot of people I know loved it to death.  It is well written, just not my cup of tea.

I hate to be a downer... but I hated the Vampire Diaries series. It may have been b/c I watched the show first, but Elena is a t total B!! Not realtable at all. I think the show puts the story together better. I ended up walking away from the book in after about 3/4 of the way. I started the Queen Betsy series, and I kinda like it. A woman has really bad luck on her 30th bday. She gets hit by a car and wakes up a vampire in a tacky suit. She then learns she's the queen of the vampire's as well...

Darn! :( I didn't enjoy the Queen Betsy series, I thought the first one was okay but went downhill from there. Oh well, thanks for the warning. Lol

I loved Water for Elephants. If I remeber there were some kinda gruesome parts but they don't take over the whole book. I read it in one night I liked it so much. The  movie version is coming out next year staring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.

I put off reading Twilight forever because I am a die hard Harry Potter fan but I feel in love with them once I finally read them.

  • Oh and the Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger  I would highly recomend. That is one of my all time favorite books.

  • My favorite author is Jodi Picoult...she is most famous for writing My Sisters Keeper.  I have read all of her books!  They are all tear jerkers (for me at least) and really tug at some hot topic moral strings.

Yes! Loved it almost as much as the Sookie Stackhouse series. I've read almost all of Charlene Harris' books.

Me too!! Although I literally got to the 10th page of her first series and sadly hated it and put it down :( I'm excited about the Sookie read along thingy that will be released next year!
