Since I'm starting to freak a little about the baby being here in a few months I'm trying to organize what needs to be done. You'd think after already doing this twice I wouldn't worry, but I'm starting to feel the crazy nesting monster being released in me and it craves organization.
I thought by sharing lists we could see if there is anything we are forgetting.
I need to:
-purchase birth kit
-gather linens, sanitize, and organize per MWs request
-gather other birth supplies
-make freezer meals
-sew more PP pads
-purchase some new nipples
-new pump tubing
-buy new bedding for the bed we moved into the nursery (I've decided to sleep there this time)
-move DS2 to his brother's room
-wash all the newborn diapers/blankets/clothes
-pull the baby stuff out of storage and sanitize
Re: Share your to-do list
I started a google doc the other day to share with DH with our to do list since my mom freaked me out a bit about how soon it will be until our second boy is here.
On my list I have:
-Wash and fold DS' newborn/0-3 month clothes
-Buy co-sleeper (done) - didn't have this with DS
-Set up infant car seat in our cars
-Pull out of garage and set up baby swing and bouncy seat (probably will wait until the baby is pretty much here for that); find box of infant toys, bottles and breast pump and pull out of storage
-Buy new nipples for bottles and bottle brushes, pacifiers, and infant cloth diapers (didn't start with DS until he was 5 months),
-Buy reusable nursing pads for myself and a new set of nursing jammies
-Call insurance and confirm hospital stay coverage since there may have been changes since DS!
We live in a small space, so I'm really procrastinating on the tasks that require setting up the larger baby items so we can enjoy our space while it lasts.
A few months... only 6 to 8 weeks until she gets here and I can't belive how far behind I am... ah!
- finish nursery stensiling/ building dresser and the glider we got.
- wash/ fold/ put away all of her clothes
- go through carters old stuff and find things that will work for this time of year and for a girl
- buy a breast pump... a good one this time becuase the last time I had a cheapy and it sucked
- get car seat into car
- make frozen meals and clean the house from top to bottom
And lots of other stuff I'm sure... I can't wait to be done work in 4 weeks. Carters' staying in daycare while I'm on "vacation" before baby gets here so I have at least 2 weeks that I can clean and get organzied without an overzelous toddler running around.
Yeah, I'm starting to freak out as well. As a first-timer, I'm sure there are about 23905724905720 things I'm not doing that I should be.
- Replace my car
- Put up wall decal in nursery
- Go to IKEA for armoire, side table
- Buy the mobile I chose from Etsy
- Get blackout curtains & double rod
- Finish washing 0-6 clothes, bedding
- Decide what religion we're raising our kids
- Pick Godparents
- Get organized with BFing/pumping - sanitize all
- Read some birthing books and finalize birth plan
- Get to the lawyer to finalize our Will
- Re-evaluate life insurance, buy more if necessary
I haven't had my shower yet so we also don't have an infant carseat, stroller, any bottles or BFing necessities (pumps, pillows, etc.), bouncy seat or PnP yet. All things we will buy if I don't get them at the shower. We also have no diapers, wipes, powder, lotion, or any other baby care things as of yet.
Thankfully, we have a hand-me-down swing, co-sleeper, play mat, bumbo, infant tub, glider, highchair, and changing table already. Takes a bit of the stress off.
Oh geez, where do I start?
- finish getting the last of the 'stuff' out of the room.
- paint
- put crib together
- move the rest of the baby furniture out of DS's room into nursery, replace with new 'big boy' furniture.
- hem curtains, sew crib skirt, throw pillow cover, blanket, pennant flag mobile and burp cloths.
- print, frame and hang alphabet letters
- paint hanging bookshelves, hang
- buy new crib sheets, breathable bumpers, new bottle nipples, newborn paraphernalia
- go through DS's old clothes, wash and reorganize in nursery, buy replacements if necessary
- bring 'baby stuff' down from attic, wash/sanitize
- install infant seat base
- potty train DS. LOL.

move rocking chair to the nursery and set up bassinett in the bed room
cut a new whole in the ceiling and install a pull down ladder to get into the attic
install car seats
move the bar into the addtion & set up dining room furniture
lighting in the new living room
I know it doesnt all need to be done in the next two weeks but I'd like to have as much construction done before the baby as possible. Oh well, at least I have my hospital bags packed.
For the most part we have everything done, atleast in my boyfriends eyes, but...
-install car seats in both cars
-pack my hospital bag [LOs bag has been packed since the last hospital visit]
-sanitize all bottles/nipples/pacifiers

-finish cleaning around entire house & get boyfriend to put down new flooring in bathroom *fingers crossed*
it feels like i have the weight of the world on my shoulders!!! my boyfriend is such a big help, but i feel like i should be doing a lot of this, and i shouldn't stress myself over all these little things...but i can't help myself!!!!
-Figure out if we are moving
-If so, pack, move and replicate the painting/stenciling/decorating we've done in the current nursery
-My husband is still working on building a cradle and needs to finish!!
-Wash clothes & diapers
-Pack hospital bags
-Clean out car and install carseat base
-Order rocker/ottoman once we figure out where the heck we will be living
-Finish sewing bedding
-Buy small odds & ends that we don't get at our Jan shower
O LAWD- everything! and i seriously mean it!!
we are in the process of moving this next month on top of helping my parents toss out 30 yrs worth of junk so they can move in to an RV and relocate 8 hrs away!
so we will be taking in alot of their stuff and getting all of our stuff out of storage so i will have ALOT of cleaning and reorganizing to do!
i have also ONLY bought the carseat, stroller, bouncer, swing and a few outfits here-and-there only because i got all of those things on sale. so needliess to say i have ALOT of shopping to do!
my baby shower is next weekend so im waiting till after that and im also waiting till we move before i make all the BIG purchases.
my goal is to have all this done by the first of feb so ill be set for baby to come. the chances of that happening? slim to none!
Oy, so we have quite a lot left to do. We're renovating our apt and not even living there at the moment. The nursery is currently covered in dust and piles of wood and power tools. The contractor knows we're moving back in in 3 weeks and supposedly is going to be done by then (including refinishing our floors and painting all the walls). Here's our list so far -- I'm sure there's more I haven't even thought of:
-- Pick nursery paint (wtg on wallpaper swatch to match as we're going to wallpaper one wall)
-- Schedule crib and dresser delivery
-- Put together co-sleeper and stroller
-- Finish making crib sheets (to be done today, although I could use fabric for a few more as I'm up to 6 right now)
-- Wash nb + 0-3 clothes and blankets
-- Find a rug for the nursery
-- Install carseat + have it inspected
-- Pack hospital bags
-- Buy diapers, small packs of a few different kinds I guess
-- Go to the Container Store to get Elfa closets designed for nursery and new storage room
I know I will forget more than half the stuff! lol
-Order DS a toddler mattress
-Transition DS to toddler bed
-Paint the kids' room
-Order decor for the room
-Get pacifiers
-Buy a new baby tub
-Wash baby clothes/blankets
-Get some diapers
-Install carseat
-Get all of DS's baby stuff(swing, bouncy chair, etc) out of SIL's house
-Make sure the pump is all set to go
-Buy pads
pack a diaper bag for new baby
put car seat base in car
buy some more pads, infant tylenol,hand sanitizer,new nipples,new binkies,diapers
Yesterday my mom got the bassinet, car seat, bouncy chair, bottles, all ready to go.
clothes were washed and folded and put away, reorganized ds's old clothes a few weeks ago
I think I'm mostly ready if he were to come today! We'd just sent someone to walmart to pick up those little things.
I'm excited because I had ds at 35 weeks and had nothing. So we're set this time just in case!!!
I'm sure I'll go to 42 weeks now just because I said that! HA!
Where do I start??? Everything!
We're moving to a bigger apartment next week and my shower is the following weekend. I'm hoping things magically start to come together. We seriously have nothing ready. My brother will bring some hand-me-downs over after we move so knowing those things are on the way is some relief.
