Recommend your external hard drive

My work is ramping up, and I am using up a ton of memory with all of my projects/pictures/music. I could go the Google/Amazon recommendations route, but I would rather hear from people that are using it in a similar way that I will be using one. So please recommend your ehd; brand, capacity, cost. TIA!

  • Western Digital brand - terabyte size. I think Costco carries them - for PC at least. There are MAC versions too. Stay away from Seagate/Maxtor or anything "portable"...

I have the WD 1 Terabyte and it's nice. I also bought a portable one, so I have things backed up x2! I got both mine at Best Buy on sale.

  • I just got the Apple Time Machine, 1TB capacity, $300. Auto-updates with my Mac though -- gotta love that!

  • We use Mozy at home - it's unlimited space for $60 a year and is well worth the peace of mind.  DH's parents house had a fire and were able to recover all the stuff they had backed up very easily.
