Garrison had her 18 month appointment today and is 35.5 inches tall! Crazy. Someone had posted about stats for 2 year olds a week or so and G's stats from 15 months were mostly on par with many of the 2 year olds. I figured she grew a little since then but I did not expect 2 inches in three months. That has been her norm for a while now, I thought she would slow down by now.
Don't get me wrong, not complaining (though she actually lost half a pound that the Dr. is not concerned about but I am, because that is who I am....) having a tall child is fine....we'll just make sure she goes to a school with a good basketball team so she can find a husband ; )

Dang, you do have a tall one! Isabel was 35.5 inches at her 2 year and that put her in the 70%tile, G has to be off the chart!
I will say my brother and I was a freakishly tall, big (not chubby, just big) babies, always off the charts and we are both very normal sizes....go figure.
yup, Ava will by 5'11 when she's done. (double their height at age 2)
I'm 5'10 if my back were straight, Davez is almost 6 ft, and my mom's brothers are all pretty tall. I was ALWAYS the tallest (and skinnest, who knew!~) in my classes growing up, and never really minded it. I didn't wear heels until I was in my mid 20's!
Woah, Spockles-- you win! ; )
For us, people often think G is older too which is sort of annoying in a large play area or something where the older (but not much bigger) kids are much "sturdier" and can take it. But G also has very minimal hair so that stumps people sometimes since that makes her look younger.
Both of my girls are tall. DD#1 is four and she's now officially off the charts with her height. DD#2, at her 18 month appointment, was something like the 92nd percentile. So yeah, I've got tall girls and people think they're older than they are (and sometimes expect more of them because they assume they're older).
DD#1 will miss the cutoff for kindergarten by 6 weeks. I know that the point of going to school is to get a great education, but part of me is worried about the social aspect of it throughout her early years ... if she's almost 6 when she starts kindergarten, filled with kids who have just turned 5, she'd most likely be the tallest kid just due to age, but factor in her tall genes and I think she's going to tower over all the kids. I just hope this doesn't become a stigma for her ... I know the tallest girl in my classes growing up got teased a lot for being "Too Tall", which became her nickname.
I hope they like sports ... if they're good, they might be able to get volleyball or basketball scholarships for college!
I have a tall little dude as well. He was measuring 30 inches at his 9 month appt. We go in for his 12 month appt next week, so I'm curious where he'll measure in at. He was born around 90% for both height and weight, and his height has stayed around that percentage this entire time while his weight has dropped down to 75%.
He must get it from my side of the family. I am only 5'5" but both my brother and sister are over 6'. My mom and dad are both tall as well, and my 12yo nephew is now taller than DH. DH isn't super tall, maybe 5'11", and everyone on his side of the family are even shorter than that.
