PSA: Chapped skin can make it easier to pick up bacteria and viruses

I finished my continuing education for Cosmetology.  There was a section that talked about taking care of your skin.  Chapped and cracked skin has tiny tears that make it easier for bacteria and viruses to enter your body.  While it is important to wash your hands, it is just as important to prevent dry, chapped skin.

  • I have awful cracked cuticles. What do you recommend?  I put lotion on before bed and wear those moisturizing gloves, and I moisturize before work in the morning.

I work in a high germ field (teaching) so I am CONSTANTLY washing and re-moisturizing during the day.

  • Good to know!  I live in the desert so my skin and lips are always dry and chapped.  I have been so sick every since we moved here.  Maybe this will help!

Sorry for the post and run last night.  I would try some cuticle remover or exfoliator in addition to what you are doing.  Keep sugar scrub by the sink when you wash your hands at home.
