Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Rec your baby/toddler carrier - non moby

I have a moby which i loved for when DS was little, but I want something easier/quicker to put on. We are TTC #2 and I kept telling myself I would just wait until we had another to buy a new carrier, but DS has been sick and really really clingly lately and I need something to carry him with that will free up my hands. He is also going through a stroller-hating phase.

So I need something easy to put on and will work for toddler and a newborn down the road. I'm looking at Baby Hawk, Mai Tai and Ergo and am open to other suggestions as well. I tried the Ergo on once and it seemed a little complicated, but not sure. TIA!

  • We have the Ergo and love it.  It's really not complicated to put on at all.  I even got super comfortable putting DD in the back position when out and about.  You can do front, back, and side carry.  Only downside is that you can't do forward-facing front but I think that's what the side carry replaces.  I also love that it has a flap that you can put over LO and snaps on the straps so when DD falls asleep it not only provides head support but blocks out the light more.  Some Ergo models even have a pocket.

  • do you have a local babywearing group? They would have the best hands-on advice for you.

I have a beco (similar to an ergo) and I LOVE it. Husband even uses it. It's in the car and it's the best for when we're out - he can go on my back or my front and he's totally happy.

I have a woven as well, but it's a little more complicated and so I normally only wear him in it at home.

This. We use ours often, esp. when traveling. I used it a lot on trains, through airports and in museums that don't allow strollers (and ITA: the sleep hood was great...it supports their head when they nap.)

  • i really love my ergo. unfortunately i got it a little too late (9 months) and shortly after DS hated it. i'm excited to use it for the next baby, though!

  • ERGO!! We love it and still use it!
  • I have a Baby K'tan that I LOVE & still use today with my 30lbs boy. I could recomend that you find a place where you can try it on as I was shocked when I find into a med. when I was set on buying a large.

  • i would recommend the Ergo. I think they are also on Babysteals today as well.
  • We have the Beco and love it!
  • I LOVE my Lille Baby.  It is very similar to the Ergo, but you can wear your LO facing forward.  It is amazing!

  • When DS was an smaller infant, he preferred the Baby K'tan. But as he got older, he liked the Ergo best. I haven't used it in ages, since he wants to walk all the time, but I will always bring it with me just in case he wants to be held for longer periods of time.

  • We love our Ergo.  I've heard that it's not great for the newborn phase though so we'll probably use our moby while #2 is tiny.
