Need help with night wakings!

We used ferber for night wakings over the Thanksgiving holiday and made lots of progress. Instead of screaming for 20-50 mins at each waking and us soothing her/checking in on her she now goes right back to sleep once we go into her room, give her the paci back etc. But I still don't want to be woken up a billion times each night even for 2 mins to re-settle her with her paci, blanket etc. She isn't really a paci-holic kid, doesn't use it for anytime except sleeping and she will go to sleep without it at times if I can't find one or she just doesn't want it. Upon her uptenth waking, I decided to just lay in bed and see if she would go back to sleep after a little crying.....nope, just cried louder after 10 mins so I had to go in and re-settle her. I am soooo tired!

Re: Need help with night wakings!

  • Sorry to those that are reading me write the same thing for paci posts ;-)  We had good luck with Pantley's Gentral Removal Plan.  The link below has the basic idea (I read about it in The No Cry Sleep Solution).  We had tried CIO for 2 weeks but hadn't wanted to take his paci away at that point.  It was a huge FAIL and after 2 weeks I caved and couldn't take it anymore.  We finally decided to take the paci away and it was no big deal!  It took 2 nights (really probably just 1).  The plan is used for any type of "sucking to soothe" your child might do, so some if it is written for bottle/breastfeeding to get your LO to sleep.  HTH
