Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

New to this board

Hello all. I have been looking at all sorts of boards on here for the past few weeks, and thought I would reach out/introduce myself. I got 8 BFP on Dec. 11, and figured I was about 4 wks along. For some reason I got nervous and took two more tests Dec. 15 (still in shock, I guess) and they were negative. My husband took me to the ER and my beta levels were 25.9. I was retested Dec. 17 and they dropped to 12, and then back down to 0 today. My husband of 9 months and I were just starting to try and conceive and thought "let's see what happens." We were estatic! My doctor said it was a chemical pregnancy, and had I not tested early I most likely never would have known because my "period" was only a day late, but I had tender breasts so I tested early. This site, and these boards, have really helped me see what others experience and I know that I am not alone. Good luck to all of us TTC again. We plan to try again next month.

  • Hello and "welcome" to this board. I am sorry for your loss. It's such a fleeting feeling to go from pregnant to not. :o(

I also went through a Chemical Pregnancy and got the official negative hcg levels results today. We're eager to start trying again after this cycle. Best of luck to you!

  • I had a chemical pregnancy after two years of TTC with my first husband. I knew because I tested on the same day every month and I was absolutely devastated when I heard those two words from my OB/GYN. Sending you lots of hugs!

  • Hello and welcome! I had a chemical pregnancy on my first loss.  DH and I were trying and I was pretty sure that I was pregnant the day my period was to come and I took a test and I was positive.  It was a faint positive.  I made the doctor appointment, took another test the next day and it was a little darker... then I took a test again the next day and it was lighter.  I went to the doctors appointment and they confirmed a chemical pregnancy.  She told me too that lots of women have this but don't realize they are actually pregnant, they just assume they were late for their period and never bothered to test, then the period signaled to them that they were in fact not pregnant.

I am utterly amazed with all the things that can go wrong in a pregnancy that babies are ever actually born...

So glad you found your way here and you are arming yourself with information. That's the best thing you can do.. and that you also have a "try again" attitude.  Best wishes to you! ;)

  • Thank you all for the words of support. Vitan - yes it is hard to go from pregnant to not. I got my final beta results today, and went from 25 to 0 in a week. We plan to try again next month.

I am sorry for the losses all of you who responded to my message have experienced. The loss is truly something I hoped to never experience, but I am comforted to know that others out there feel the way I do and are courageous enough to speak about their experiences.

  • we're going through the same thing....i get my repeat beta levels back tomorrow but the home pregnancy test line has already disappeared.  it is so frustrating to see the collection of BFPs lined up on my toliet and then to see the line slowly disappear again.  We had saved them to take a picture of the progression of the line getting darker only to see what we had go away so quickly.  i'm still sorting through this and trying to figure out what to make of this but you're not the only one going through this and i wish you good luck TTC.
