  • 1) Give us one line describing yourself:  I am a young mom and wife who happens to also be a nurse, I love my family and being at home as much as I possibly can.

    3) # of children, ages, do you want more?  I have a 16 month old son and we are TTC#2 (have been since August)

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it?  I am a critical care nurse, I *usually* love my job but there are days I wish I never went into nursing.

    5) What does your DH/Partner do? Electrician for a brewery

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace?  I try, I only work 2 shifts a week so it's relatively easy to maintian balance.

    7) Favorite store for kid's stuff:  Target....I love that place for pretty much everything.

    8) Favorite household item of 2010:  Frebreeze wood/all surface cleaner in the lavender scent.

    9) What is your favorite food?  anything cajun.

    10) Tell us something funny about yourself:  I brush my teeth in the shower.

    11) Describe your house:  We live in a 30 year old brick ranch that we have completely redone except for our kitchen cabinets....we are going to redo those before we put the home up for sale in the next 5 years.

    12) Favorite book of 2010:  I read a few Steven King novels this year, "The Dome" was okay, but not my favorite of all SK.

    3. 2 , dd will be 5 next month, ds is 3.  I've said no for 3 years.... but if we move, I may consider it in a couple of years.

    6. we don't.... hence the desire to move.  our schedules are crazy here and we barely see each other.  I'd like to move to an area with a lower COL, so I could work days again and see my husband more than I do now.

    7. ooooo. tough.   I'll say Target b/c I buy a little bit of everything there for them. play clothes, snacks, toys, books, videos, shoes.

    8. orek vacuum... lightweight. great when you have 3 levels to vacuum

    9. lately it's been Indian... chicken tikki masala.... some spinach dish with the naan mmmmmmm.

    10.  funny?  my memory is gone... foot goes in mouth much more now... since the children.... or maybe the night shift.   lack of sleep kills you.

    11. a mess. lol.   it's a 3 level townhouse in an outerborough of NYC.  1900 sq ft. no yard, the 1st level is essentially like basement space.  there's the garage, playroom/storage, a half bath and laundry... main living/kitchen/dining/1/2bath is on the 2nd level (PITA when it comes to groceries) ... bedrooms and baths are on the 3rd.   we've moved so much that I really haven't done much to this place.  I'm ready to be settled in my own home.  we rent.  cheaper to rent this than buy it.  I'm not it would be about $500k here. ::: barf :::

    3) # of children, ages, do you want more? DD - 4 months old. Definitely want a LO#2 in a year or two.

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it? I'm a financial auditor. I don't mind it but I would love to be a SAHM.

    5) What does your DH/Partner do? DH is an accountant.

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace? I work pretty much 8:30-5 so it's nice to know I'll be home with DD for a couple hours before her bedtime. Although I do travel 1 week per month which is tough, but we're adjusting.

    7) Favorite store for kid's stuff. BRU, I like how everything is under one roof and Walmart.com.

    8) Favorite household item of 2010: Dishwasher for all the bottles, bottle parts, and pump parts.

    10) Tell us something funny about yourself: DH and I enjoy snowboarding. We're hoping to get to go at least once this winter.

    4) My job: Graphic designer for a big Boston hospital creating their marketing pieces, newsletters, patient information packets, annual reports, etc. Love it 95% of the time, hate the commute.

    6) Balance tips: Buy things/pay bills as much as I can on-line from work, Housekeeper 2x a month. Neighborhood kid to cut the lawn and shovel. Keep meals simple. Work from home one day a week. Date with DH every other weekend. Don't sweat the small stuff.

    8) Kitchen: crockpot or my new good pots

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it? Business Analyst, some days I love it, others I tolerate it.

    5) What does your DH/Partner do? Staff Accountant for Private Equity firm.

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace? I'm not sure I do maintain a balance. I try to by not bringing my work home with me. I try to get as much done as I can in my 40 hours a week so that when I'm home I can focus all of my energy on my family.

    7) Favorite store for kid's stuff: BRU and Once Upon a Child. I don't really care for BRU all that much, but it's so convenient that everything I need is in one place.

    11) Describe your house: TINY 2 beds, one bath. It was supposed to be my starter home for just me and my dog. With the housing market the way that it is, I won't be able to sell any time soon.

    12) Favorite book of 2010: The Kite Runner, it's the only non-parenting book, I've been able to read.

    3) # of children, ages, do you want more? DS just turned 2, yes one more but I'm scared to death, lol.

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it? I'm a pediatrician in private practice. I would say that 40% of my time I love it, and 50% I tolerate it, and 10% I hate it.  I enjoy working with moms/dads and their babies, feel like I do make a difference at times. But I hate being on call, stressful situations and working long days and many weekends.

    5) What does your DH/Partner do? state benefits caseworker.

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace? one day off during the week- and my son goes to daycare. That is the only time I feel like I ever get to breathe.

    8) Favorite household item of 2010: our new chest freezer- love the storage.

    9) What is your favorite food?hmmm.. anything super rich and chocolate, coffee with cream no sugar, Mexican food.

    10) Tell us something funny about yourself:  I delivered my son all by myself with nobody in the room. (not intentional). My birth story was Bump #1 birth story of 2009. You can google it.

    11) Describe your house: 2001ish open concept one story with a bonus. We bought it a year and a half ago for less than the sellers paid, but they had done basically no updating. It is certainly a work in progress.

     12) Favorite book of 2010:This was my first year in a long time actually reading some non-medical/work books.
    I really enjoyed Cutting for Stone, but it was LOOOONG.

    Ask for help and keep things in perspective - I have no interest in pretending I am Martha Stewart or Donna Read.

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it? Insurance agent/bookkeeper at an independent agency. I tolerate it.

    5) What does your DH/Partner do? He manages the auto shop at the local WalMart

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace? We're still figuring it out, but I think we both do a pretty good job of leaving work at work.

     7) Favorite store for kid's stuff: I'm having lots of fun exploring all the secondhand stores in our area.

    10) Tell us something funny about yourself: I've been a pretty strict vegetarian for about 20 years, but I still eat the veggies and broth out of my mom's beef stew. Can't give it up.

    3) # of children, ages, do you want more? One, 5 months; yes!

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it?  I am a program coordinator for a small nonprofit.  I love it, but I make very little money and get very few benefits.  When I get a get a better paying job, we will begin trying for another baby.

    5) What does your DH/Partner do?  He is a software engineer.

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balance?  My husband and I are quite the team.  I certainly married my best friend.  Our ability to work so well together, keeps us sane.  We carpool to work, and find time then to talk on our drives.  We get a lot done on those rides.

    9) What is your favorite food?  Chicken Fried Rice (with no eggs) or batter dipped chicken fingers.

    11) Describe your house:  A large (3700 sq. foot) open concept with 4 bed/4bath cookie cutter house on the outskirts of Omaha.  It is only 5 years old and too large for us now.  I love it.  We wanted a turn key home and that is what we got. The back yard overlooks a field where the neighbors let their horses and donkey graze.  It doesn't have a lot of furnishings yet, as we are adding to it slowly.

    12) Favorite book of 2010:  I am so ashamed to say that I don't think I finished a single new book in 2010, which is highly unusual.  I did, however, reread a few favorites.

    4) What do you do for work? university study abroad office, finances, scholarship advising, catch all.  Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it? love the concept, tolerate staffing/management conflicts in our particular office
    5) What does your DH/Partner do? State Farm insurance/keeps me sane.
    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace? Errrr, yep. Try to make lists for each day and don't beat myself up when 8pm comes and I'm "done"? Try to keep one day of the weekend for PJ day at home.

    9) What is your favorite food? too many! Italian and Indian are always winners. And chocolate is a daily staple.
    10) Tell us something funny about yourself: I'm hearing impaired since birth, so I have a 'deaf' accent. Americans without experience around the accent tend to think I'm British/South African/not American and so confused when I say I'm from PA. Generally, Brits don't know what to make of me, but they know I'm not British. I am a woman of great mystery :)
    11) Describe your house: townhouse, barely a yard, 'cozy' with great lighting and view of area's valley; hopefully a starter home.
    12) Favorite book of 2010: Probably a cliche, but 'Eat, Love, Pray' I love the idea of taking a year away, and making your life your own.

The day before I went into labor, I had fallen on my steps outside of my house. Every nurse in L&D knew who I was because of the MASSAVE bruise on my butt!! (What a nice thing to be remembered by!!)

    10) Tell us something funny about yourself:  when I was in junior high, I had a downhill skiing accident which left me in a cast from my hip to my ankle, but I didn't want to miss one minute of gymnastics season, so I compete on the uneven bars, in my cast and I was known across the state at every meet as the "girl with the leg".  The pictures are quite humorous!!

    11) Describe your house:  tiny, tiny, tiny....can't wait to get out...we're busting at the seams!  And when I say tiny, I'm not being modest...it's 572 sf, one bedroom for a family of four with a dog.....like I said...TINY!!

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it? I work for a cancer center making chemotherapy and other medication for cancer patients. I love my job . it's just hard working in the peds unit . Not fair for a child to be sick with cancer

    5) What does your DH/Partner do? He is a mechanic . He loves his job .

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace? It is really hard . We are lucky that we both are off every weekend so we spend time together then .

    4) What do you do for work? Do you love it, hate it, tolerate it?  I am a special education attorney and I absolutely love it. 

    5) What does your DH/Partner do?  He is a toxic torts attorney.

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balace?  I'm not sure if I do but I try to not sweat the small stuff, stay organzied, and keep my family as my priority.

    7) Favorite store for kid's stuff.  I love the new toy section at Barnes and Noble.  But for everyday stuff, Target.

    8) Favorite household item of 2010:  My swiffer.  I don't know why it took me so long to get one.

    6) How do you maintain a good work/life balance? I prioritize my work when possible so that I don't have to stay late or work extra hours from home. My house is nowhere nearly as clean or organized as it could be, but I'd rather have my precious rare free time to spend with my guys or sneak away to read, get a manicure or do some shopping.
