how many oz is your 10 week old eating?

Mine is eating 4 and still chowing down on a paci so I'm wondering if he's hungry. The doc told us to cut down to 4 we had done 5 oz. How much is your 10 week old eating? He went 7 hours last night between bottles overnight and today slept through a feeding according to dh. Do you think he's ready to go to 5oz bottles? How much are your 10 week olds eating? in a sitting?

DS will be 10 weeks this Friday and he's up to 5 oz bottles 4 times a day, and then two 6 oz bottles. Doctor wants him eating 32 oz a day. He's 12 pounds right now. Sometimes my DS still seems hungry after a feed so I give him his NUK to hold him over until his brain realizes he's full. He might fuss for 10 minutes after a feed, but then he passes out!

wow really?! my lo is 10 weeks old and weighs 13 pounds and they said he only should be eating 24 oz a day which he eats way more than that!

our pedi says 24 oz in 24 hours until they are 3 months. then increase up to 32 oz. Stay at that till 4 months. then increase again. at 5 months if needed increase again and start solids.

They said baby should not drink more than 35-38 oz a day EVER.

currently I have a 9 week old and she drinks maybe 18 oz a day. She is just over 10lbs. We are having spitting issues, and weight issues though. The most she has ever taken is 28 oz, and she spit up maybe 10oz that day!!

your pedi would shiit a brick if he ((or she) met me. my DS eats 48 oz/day easy. my pedi says he's FINE. he's extra tall, and extra large WTF am i supposed to do? put him on a diet? skim my EBM? ya i don't think so. he eats what he wants, and is a content happy baby. and it takes him 30+ minutes to take a bottle, so no, he doesn't guzzle, and yes, we take breaks in between to make sure he burps and truly wants the whole thing.

our lo does seem to guzzle his food....he sometimes takes 20-30 min for a bottle and sometimes even with burping every oz will down a bottle in like 10 min~~~~ but he's also a big kid (started average and has had HUGE growth spurts) 23.5 inches and 13 lbs...75th percentile for height and weight 88th for head circ.

I agree. My DS can blow that amt out of the water some days.

at 4 months my son was taking 48 oz, and they said immediately start food with him. that lowered his BM intake down to 35. That is how I found out about their maximum oz per day.

i have had multiple discussions with my pedi regarding my DS's intake. if he was being overfed, he'd be uncomfortable after feeds, spitting up, and crabby. he's not. he just is recently spitting up more due to swallowing extra mucus from a bit of a runny nose. i can not WAIT to start him on foods, because this every 2 hour business (minus STTN) is for the birds. my DS is now 21lbs (ya ya i know) and 26.5 inches and not even 3 months. my pedi says he'll take what he needs, and keep thriving. i can't imagine him saying 'ok, now that he's used to 48oz, you need to half that, because it's too much...'. PFFFFFT

I was trying to limit DS's intake to what all the "charts" and "normal ranges" said, and he was always crabby and miserable after feedings. I couldn't figure out what it was. We even went as far as blaming it on reflux (reflux could still be an issue, however ... ) but since we increased the amount DS eats every day, he has been MUCH happier. He actually doesn't spit up as much any more, nor is he fussy and crabby after eating. This is not a time for babies to be on a diet. If the baby is hungry, the baby is hungry! You can't rationalize to the baby that he's already had his food allotment for the day and now he just has to deal with it. If he's hungry, feed him!

DS is eating 35 oz a day. 7 oz every 4 hours and then STTN. My Ped said that as long as his measurements are proportional then there is no cause for concern. He is very good at stopping when full so we feed until he stops.

Our pedi said 24 oz a day...I know that's minimum, he didn't tell me a max. Our problem has been if he's getting enough. I feed him every 2 hours b/c he lost a pound after leaving the hospital. It's been really hard for him to get back up to birth weight and at his 2 months check up he was finally to 10 lbs 1 oz (birth weight was 9 lbs 2 oz). This feeding thing is sooo difficult!! Ugh! And every kid is soo different it drives me crazy!

I am sorry but screw 'max amounts'

Babies eat what babies eat. Plain and simple. If babies are hungry, feed them. My DD was eating WAY WAY WAY more than that (pumped BM because I EP'ed with her- not by choice). My Dr never said a thing.

I completely agree. My 11 weekers are both over 14 pounds and they take between 30-35 ounces in a 24 hour period. They're not overfeeding, they're happy and growing well. Their physician thinks they're big, healthy and happy boys. They would wrang all day long if they only ate 24 ounces a day. Forget that sh!t. Feed your babies if they're hungry.

If I pump he will eat 3oz bottle if I bf I have no clue. He will eat on both sides until he's satified! Sometimes I will take him off and give him his pinkie bc he is just on to suck. He gose on a 4 to 6 hour stretchs and at night he will go 7 to 9 at night. He weighs almost 15lbs.

C is taking 5 oz bottles. She usually consumes 25-30 oz per 24 hours.

She is 11 pounds and her pedi is cool with that.
