Re: Darn you ASPCA commercials
Both of my doggies are pound puppies, so whenever I see the commercials I have to give them each a hug
I know! They get ya, don't they? I actually work in the pet industry and deal with animal rescues daily---it's heart wrenching. Especially when we are saving hundreds of animals at a time from being euthenized. I wish more people would choose adoption over purchasing animals--especially THIS time of year.

Notes:
I know. Our lil doggy Maggie was a 'foreclosure' dog. People just left her when they left their house. She is currently snuggled as close to be as she can get. I can't imagine leaving this lil lady. Our fat cat, Phil was a stray kitten in one of my student's backyard.
We love both our furry babies and coudln't imagine life without them at this point.

That is one the most awful things I have heard! What kind of person just leaves their animals with no idea if or when they will be taken care of!!?! I cannot imagine!
Glad she has a good home now!
I have rescued so many abandoned furbabies.. that commercial always gets me
especially when pregnant!!
My husband and I had just finished fostering and adopting out a total of 15 kittens for the ASPCA when we found out we were expecting baby #2.. so I guess, we are going to be holding off on the fostering until this little one is old enough to play with them!
ASPCA and Humane Society are causes close to mine and my husbands heart. We try to donate to them when we can, and our dog and both cats are rescues. My sister and I didn't talk for a month when she got her dog a few years ago because I told her what an idiot she was because she bought him (for $1400!!!!) at a pet store instead of adopting from a rescue.
Those commercials break my heart every time-and like PP said, I always have to give my doggie a big hug when one comes on. My husband and I have a dream that when we retire, we will be able to have a house out in the country with a lot of land and a pole barn and we'll be able to have our own little animal rescue. And on a side note-if I had the means to do it right now, I would go around and take all the dogs I see that their owners let live outside in the dead of winter when it's snowing and freezing. Nothing irritates me more than people who are cruel to animals. Why even bother having a dog if you are gonna make it live outside?? I could smack those people.
