Looks like we have a lot of teachers on this board, but what about everyone else? What does your husband do? And do you plan to go back to work after the baby is born or will you be a SAHM?
I'm a freelance writer and my husband is a pilot in the Air Force. I'm definitely going to take at least a few months off after the baby is born, but I'd like to start working again by the end of the year. I work at home, so that could go either way -- it could be convenient because I won't have to worry about daycare, but I don't know how much writing I'll get done with a baby around!

I work part time at my family's automotive recycling business doing advertising/marketing things. DH joined the family business after he got out of the Marine Corps two years ago.
I'd like to eventually start my own invitation design business, as well as an event planning business. But, I plan on being a SAHM when the baby comes. I figure those are two things I can do on the side to make a little extra cash.
I work for a large commercial bank in HR-Employee Benefits, where I am in charge of our Corporate Wellness programs. My DH is a PGA Golf Professional. He works at a Country Club where he runs tournements/leauges, gives lessons, and he coachs a high school golf team.
I will be going back to work after my 12 week maternity leave. By that time we should be approaching the end of the golf season, so hopefully DH will stay home with the LO through March. Then we will start daycare at about 7 months.
I have the ability to work from home with my job, but I don't think that I would be able to care for a child at the same time because I am on conference calls often.
DS#1- Born August 2011
I work in research re-developing adult drugs to a safe pediatric formulation mainly my focus is to find the correct dose and make avaliable drugs for children in Kenya for TB and HIV. I run my own lab within the university in conjunction with the college of pharmacy.....
I totally plan on coming back to work because I feel its so important what we are trying to accomplish.
My DH is a warehouse manager for a small local seed corn company...
I freelance a newsletter for my old job
I work at a state college, currently doing business-y type stuff but I have an interview today for a different position in admissions and have my resume in for a PR job.
My husband does HVAC installation for his uncle's business.
I would love to only work part-time after the baby, but I doubt that will happen. We're definitely a two income family.

I work in Commercial Insurance and DH is a restuarant manager. The plan for now is for me to work part time in the morning before DH goes to work at 3. I just need to get my company to agree to this arrangement.
I am worried DH isn't going to get any sleep but the other option is putting the baby in day care and DH only seeing me and the baby one night a week, all day Saturday, and Sunday before he goes to work.
I'm a Web Designer and also do freelance Graphic/Web Design on the side.
DH is an Electrical Test Technician. Once he gets his degree, he will be an Electrical Engineer.
I plan to continue to work all the way up to the day I deliver, and come right back about 6 weeks later.
I'm in charge of staff training for a large social service agency and DH is a bridge engineer (inspects large bridges).
Right now, I work part-time (3 days). Whether I'll become a SAHM after Baby #2 arrives depends on where we find a new house. I already commute up to 1.5 hours each way to work so, if we end up moving much further from my offices (where we can get a LOT more house for our money + lower taxes) it won't be worth my working and I'll probably stay home.

I work in a call center for a Credit Union right now and DH is a Coach/Trainer in a Call Center for a large insurance company.
While I would love to be a SAHM, MIL is very willing to watch the baby so I can continue to work... even if part time, just to have the extra cash flow.

Wow, that's a long commute! I had a 45 minute commute several years ago, and I thought that was bad.
I'm an accounting associate/office manager at a large format printing company. DH is an Art director for a company that does interactive sites for life sciences companies and pharma companies.
We're hoping I can quit and stay home for maybe the first year or two (if we can squeeze by financially). I've reached my limit here in terms of growth/responsibility and my commute kinda sucks (1.5 hours each way). Once LO is older, I hope to go back to work doing something new that is closer to home.
I am an Education Manager at a non-profit (basically a meeting planner) and my DH is a contractor for the federal government.
We're still debating this issue because he gets zero benefits being a contractor and I get them...he thinks I should stay home but we'd take a hefty pay cut (not that I make that much but I really like my job and the benefits and flexibility are awesome. Plus, I've been here over 4 years and have saved up a ton of sick leave
. We shall see!
I own my own business. I'm a photographer, mostly weddings. I HAVE to go back to work, because I already have wedding booked for late September, plus I LOVE what I do. August is almost perfect timing (kinda slow due to the heat). I will basically take off about 6 weeks from photographing total.
My DH is a graphic designer.
